Check out my dash!!!
I first molded my DSP and Alpine TV to fit in the dash with Duraglass. Then I took another step and sanded the face of my DSP to paint it as well. Check out the results:

I don't like how it's painted, needs to be smoother, like glass.
But why didn't you just get ain install kit for a 1.5 DIN? Or add another half DIN like a center channel or something?

It's paitned Nighthawk Black Pearl. The pic just sucks. If I do a center channel, I'll do one on the dash reflecting off the window.

So you're saying the 1st pic looks better than the 2nd?

Yeah i took the plunge and did it. I'll post more pics tonight.
OK here are more pics. Unfortunately my Alpine TV had to be sent in for repairs so I had to throw in this crappy *** Rockford deck until further notice. These were also taken with my crappy MDA phone camera so hopfully quantity will make up for a lack of quality. At any rate, here are some pics.

I normally take whatever I need painted to a local dealership where I know their auto painter. Fortunately, my Civic was getting a few dents taken out and the driverside repainted after the shop who replaced my driverside window (car was broken into) dented my door. I just dropped off the dash and DSP surround and asked if they could spray it when they sprayed my car. Normally having it painted only cost about $40 to have it done proffessionally, assuming you've prepped it.

I like that it looks not only unique but the paint really stands out. My fear is that a flat black would give it an "unfinished" look which is exactly what I don't want.

i think it looks good. BUT i made a custom piece for relocating the HU and at first I went with a glossy paint like you did...and it came out like yours..
i loved it at first...but i got a lot of comments like you're getting..."will look better flat.."
since i still had a while before my HU came in the mail i decided i would try the flat black..i liked it a LOT better. i thought the same thing that the flat would look unfinished...but i ended up liking it a ton more.
i ended up not even using the piece i made, but between the glossy and flat, even though i though the glossy would look better at first...i think the flat looked much better. (i put the flat right over the gloss, i dunno if that makes a difference..)
anyway, just though id share that. looks good like that to me, though.

i didn't think i did...but i actually found some. but REMEMBER, i didn't end up using this piece so the actual finish is REALLY rough. i should have sanded it a lot more and made it smooth...BUT in the pics you can get the idea of how flat black will look

these look the best...but theres a few more here:

Mine actually could have used MORE filler as the paint shop didnt use any. I will end up repainting it eventually.
