best config for 4 channel amp
best config for 4 channel amp
Hello, this is my first post here. I current own a Kenwood KAC-8402 4/3/2 channel amp and I'm planning on getting a sub. Right now I have component speakers hooked up to the one amp (a) and the rear sony xplod 4 way speakers hooked up to the second (b).
When I get my sub in I know that the true 3 channel would be the best way to power the sub/front speakers. But what should i do for the rear speakers? I've thought about using my Alpine head unit but that's not much power but I'm not sure if it'll really matter since the rear speakers are just used to "fill in" the sound.
Another option i've looked into is the Tri-mode feature wich would allow me to have the rear speakers hooked into the amp along with a sub. The only problem is my alpine head unit has some cool controls for subs that i'd like to use and doing the tri-mode way just wouldn't let me have that control. I want the best configuration I can get without buying another amp.
Any feedback would be greatly appriciated. Thank you

Best thing i would say is too put each of your 4 speakers on its own chanel and get a different amp for your sub. Being as though most people don't want to spend money.
-Wire the rears to the headunit as you've said
-Fronts on one channel, rear on another sub on the other. (Being the amp will go 3 channel) You'll still retain the fade of front to rear, which is important beacuse of the sub, you will loose sound imagineing (the sound being thrown around you) also the lack of power that will be going to each speaker

I would do that as well, and you might find that you don't really need to amp those speakers in the rear. I have my audio faded pretty far up and think it sounds muhc better that way, so power in the rear isn't too necessary.

Yeah, that's what my set up is with my infinity references in the front. You should just leave the rear speakers be and run them off the hu,
