How many miles on your car or have you seen on a car?
I am having an interesting debate with a guy on a J-Body board about the mileage he has on his Sunfire 2.2 Liter with 3 speed Auto. He has 400,000 miles on the original unrebuilt units. I was telling him how I have HEARD from some friends of Hondas going into the 300,000 mile range but personally never saw one. I do know of one personally that is right at 200,000 miles on the original untouched engine (normal wear items) but has had the trans rebuilt. This guy seems to think Hondas really suck. I think the engines are fairly good but haven't heard of one EVER going 400,000 miles. After buying this 2001 this board opened my eyes that the transmissions are a ticking time-bomb though. I have 41k and still no transmission problems

i have right around 10k on my car, but most ive ever seen was on my buddies 93 ford ranger 4banger automatic, 370,000 miles on an origional engine, and never had the ranny fluid changed ever. well since anybody in his family owned it which was for like 200,000 miles
A local dealer had a Civic hatch that the original owner had traded in on a new Accord when I was buying my car, and it had around 430,000 miles on it (I think it was 426,000 and change to be closer). Car was in perfect condition, couldn't believe it. They had it sitting in the dealership to show off to potential customers. My 04 has 31K on it right now.
I'll flip out and kill people.

i saw 280,000 on some 90's s10 when i worked at a shop. no rebuild, and it looked freakin brand new. just goes to show, take care of any car and it will likely last you as long as you want. of course, you can look at a lot of diesel anythings, as diesels will just about last forever
^^^ Hahaha.
Well, the '92 4Runner I had before had ~153,000 miles... not so much.
My dad has a '99 Nativa (Montero Sport it's called in the States) and is going in to ~160,000 miles... again, not so much.
My '04 VP has close to 43,000 miles.

i have 25,000 on mine now but my friend has one of those old 4x4 station wagons and he rolled back odometer so god knows how many miles he has on that thing, takes really good care of it too....obviously
I actually had a 1997 S-10 with 4.3 and drove it from 56k to 130,000 and it ran like brand new. I know it would have went 200k since it didn't burn oil, etc...
My others:
Mazda B-2000 that had 165k miles but had blow-by and I had to sell it.
Honda Accord with 133k and wrecked it but was running fine.
Toyota Tercel that had 160k an was fine but I sold it.
You guys are right about the diesels and I agree with what you say. This guy took real offense to me relating his mileage to my total years of driving and mileage. I'm not calling him a liar but he must be doing some heavy duty driving. I don't know anything about the 1.9 Liter Ford he mentions.

There was a Volvo that did a million miles. I think they bought it back from the owner.
250,000 is not that unusual for an engine these days. Tranny's.... that's another story.

i got a 92 4door sitting on the side of my house we picked it up for my friend for 400 bux it has 280,xxx and it runs like a champ jus has pinhole in the oilpan. but other than that works amazing
I saw a late 80's Accord that came into the carwash (while I was working there) that was in 999,xxx and it was fairly looking on the inside and out. The engine ran fairly well, better than alot of beaters out there.

when i got rid of my civic it had 47k on it.
my dad has an 85 toyota pickup with the legendary 22r in it, with 271k miles on it, 4th clutch, 3rd starter, and a head gasket replacement, along with all normal maintenance. he bought it brand new in june 1985, and the motor's compression is STILL perfect (as of ~1 year ago) at close to 110psi across all cylinders.
my dad's friend tim has an 86 toyota 4x4 pickup, same motor, with nearing 400k miles on it, all he's had is normal wear items go out, and replaced the rear diff with a stronger one when his first one seized.

I bought my 90 Civic DX with 73k and ran it to over 230k, gave it to my brother who ragged it to over 300k until a water leak cracked the head. I miss that car! Boy could she eat CV joints tho...
I have 93k and some change on my 01 ex now. My 94 tempo I had in high school after I got rid of it had over 175k on it and all I had to do to that was 1 cv boot and a head gasket which I changed in the rain and ran perfect after that.

Most i've ever seen was 870,000 miles on a 95 Dodge Ram 3500 Cummins. He used it to haul trailers all over the US and Canada and even up to Alaska. I bet by now he's got over a million miles on it

my 1st car (92 corolla) had 181,000 miles on it when i got it. haha. sold with with 215,000
the car with the most miles i have seen on it was a 95 Tacoma Truck with 380,000 miles. It was for commercial use for a business, so it was constantly make trips. It ran strong too.
My 05 vic currently has almost 19,000miles

I used to work at a carwash and had a 95 ford power stroke diesel come through with 460k miles. Also had an old 80's toyota pickup come through with 400+k on it.
But i have to ask why you were on sunfire forums?
But, on topic, while i worked there for over 3 years, honda's came through with 200k+ at least a couple times a week. Very common to see that. They're may not have been any quarters left on them, but they still ran great!
