Sad Sad Story
So, about a month ago 1 of the channels on my 5 year old Alpine V12 goes out, I figure this sucks, but at least I got 5 years of hard use out of it. Then a week ago one of my Diamond Subs goes out, just ups and dies. Not to mention that I hate my Alpine 9853, but thats another story in itself.
Does anybody have other sad stories that make mine look stupid, i'm really just looking for excuses to drop a grand to fix my system.

guy came in to our shop with a laod of gear and spends $650 on a custom fiberglass box for his car. doesnt want us to touch whats already done (save him some money).
we do all the work, kicks butt, he leaves happy.
comes back a week later with awful alternator whine. VERY awful. when we disassemble the box, it looks like a gorilla tried to just lift it out. we find the ground wire another shop did (of course this car went through three shops) was pulled out. At this point we know he or his friends tried to pull out the box to look at the guts of the install, stressing the ground and pulling it out of the ring terminal.
problem is, his 800 watt RF amp he hated was now ungrounded, and found its new ground on the RCA shield..... which tried to pull 800 rms of bass straight through his $1200 pioneer TV screen radio.
He wasn't happy after hearing that bit of news. he left with a working amp he hated and a very expensive paperweight.

my neighbor paid a shop $2000 for: 4 12" kicker comp 02/03 lower end models, have them build a box for it, (1) kicker kx400.1, and (1) kicker zx150.2 installed.
if you were to buy those subs/amps at www.onlinecarstereo.com...the total would've been around $580. so that other $1400+ goes to labor to build the box and to install the equipment using their own wires.

About a month ago, I got some new equipment for my car (I made a thread about it here). We started first thing in the morning, 7:30-8:00am. We worked all day on my car, changing the subs, changing the amps, adding a processor, changing the speakers, etc, etc. About midnight we get everything together, and when I turn it on, I hear the most god awful noises coming from the subs. After a whole lot of troubleshooting, we determined that the amp had a bad channel. We got it working, but nowhere near it's potential, and I didn't get much of a chance to play with a beautiful brand new amp
Oh, and I've been installing sound deadener in my car since about 9:30 this morning, it's about 8:00 at night now. My entire interior is ripped out (every single interior panel, center console, front and rear seats, carpet) and although I am very sore and extremely sticky from working with this material all day, I need to get it done (or as close to it as possible), so that I can have my car functioning at a show tomorrow. Every fiber of my being hurts at this point, but I'm about 2 minutes away from getting up and back out there. Wish me luck!

it sucked when i dropped a screw right between the + and - wires on the amp. haha. lucky i had a screwdriver to push it out or there was gonna be a fire with all the sparks. im surprised nothing happened, not even a blown fuse. and that amp is still pounding four years and counting after being dropped, crashed (accident), and thrown against the seats.
