Change the alternator. I and 1 other member experienced the same thing. Except ours wasnt continuing to break. Better to be safe than sorry. Good luck.
oh really what did you do to fix it ? couldnt it be something apart from the alternator i wasted $200 today buying new ecu and programming it now i need another, are all alternators in 01-05 the same?
thanks for reply it is a big problem it happened after i changed engine im guessing its the alternator just gonna change it because i got one cheap i dont know what else it could be ?? but shops wants atleast $150 for 2 hour labor diagnostic and they might not even find problem, the car still drives though after the ecus get messed up but ecu wont give out any codes, rpm wont work or temp guage and car wont rev over like 2000rpms starts breaking up, all i have on it is intake, header and exhaust

The tensionor bolt on my alt broke, it made the alternator send a surge through the electrical system which semi-fried the ecu causing the same problem that you are having. Fortunatley my alt was still working properly so i didnt need to change it. Your alt is doing the same thing. Changing that out is the cheapest route right now besides getting yet another ecu to reprogram.
thank you very much thats what im gonna do, ordered it already, just wondering is there anything else that could cause this, was your ecu clicking and same symptons i described? temp guage and rpm not working

yes, exactly. the car runs real bad like strugles to accelerate. It starts clicking at first for about 12 seconds then all the gauges shut down and the car runs real eratic. It sucks now that you have to get another ecu AND replace the alternator. I really do think that should end the problem. Did you replace the alt or remove it for any reason? Have you checked it to see if it is secure, all wires intact etc?
i just purchased alternator havent done anything yet, so the ecus are damaged? i cant get them to work again have to change ecu? did you change your ecu aswell, yeh it sucks im spending so much money, did your speedometer still work?

I didnt bother trying to get it repaired since I had another one already. The only thing on the dash that worked was the speedo, if I recall. You or whoever replaced the motor may have mounted the alternator incorrectly or a bolt is loose or whatever. Check all your alternators connections make sure they are tightened properly, nothing dangling where it shouldnt be and double check ALL your mounting/tensioning bolts make sure they are secure but dont overtighten them. Check with Honda to see if there is anything they can do with the damaged ECUs. Mine wouldnt even communicate with there scanner , Let me know what happens.

well changing the alt wont solve the problem alone. You need to get another ecu put in too. Unless that is what you were talking about.
