How cold is your A/C????
How cold is your A/C?
mine is at 60 and it took about 10min to get there, its atleast 100degrees today.
I just recently instaled the A/C back into my civic and just wondering how cold everyone else is. Also if you have a guage where does it read on the low side?

Well on a hot day it does take a min for it to cool down no matter where your at. Mine blows cold, but because the car is sooo hot to begin with i have to leave the windows down to get some of the hot air out.
thats funny cause i just did this with a refrigeration temperature guage, and mine showed 54 degrees in the center when it was about 103 degrees outside. oh and thats with the recirculate off. When i turned the re-circulate on it went from 54 to 51 in three minutes!

recirculate blows more air and also the ac works less because air in the cabin is colder than outside usually.
i need a thermometer, but mine gets pretty cold. to get an accurate reading, you should be driving 65mph or other hi constant speed for at least 15 mins with ac on before you take a reading.

i'll prolly check mine sometime, im curious as well, but tonight on the way back from class.. of course no sun, so its a bit cooler, humid as fvck out, 78%, its only 76 tho, weird cause it feels like 90+.. anyway.. i turned the temp down about 3 nothces (hotter - it was on the coolest setting) and the fan was about 4th notch, and i was plenty cool.. when im inside i prefer it to be low to mid 70s, so i'd assume it was around 75. so im happy enough, when it's hot out damn does it take some time to cool off..
It'll blow warmer in traffic because your not getting the fresh air blowing across the air condeser thingy...the one like the radiator, lol.
I sat at my friends house while waiting for him on a hot summer night to see how cold I could get my car. Had the recirculate button on and it got cold enough to fog all the windows and make me shiver a little, lol. Mine works awesome once you get the hot air out, takes like 30 seconds for it to get cool air and about another min or 2 to get the car cool.
I hate using the A/C just because of the power drain and gas milage it sucks up...so I only use it on the highway.

on my old 87 jetta putting your hand over the vent was like sticking it in a freezer. i never measured the temp but i wouldnt be surprised if it got to low 40s. it was crazy. good ol freon owns r134a
i hate using AC. i never resort to AC unless I feel like i'm gonna die. Otherwise, my AC is ok. But when I do use it, Its not consistantly cold..it'll blow out cold air..and then not so cold air..and it'll just go back and forth..

Mine is one of the coldest I have ever felt. The only other car that has had such cold a/c was my buddies brand new altima, but that did not last. I am sure that there are many civics with good a/c as well, but i have never ridden in another 7thgen, come to think of itLOL. Anyways, it gets those metals things on the vents really cold to the touch, like refrigerator cold. Sometimes i ride with the windows down and a/c blowing, and there is so much damn condensation my HU is starting to not work. Serves me right though, complete waste of gas, but hey, it feels great.
I cannot believe that I have never ridden in another 7thgen, I have been thinking for like 5 mnutes. I mean I know plenty of people with them, its just that i have never actually rideen with them. Sh#t....
