Wiring question

Hi, I'm looking into CarPC's, now I was wondering what the best way is to wire the computer to ur car.

for the power I'm just going to use a 12V to 230V inverter (I live in Europe)
with 600W continous and 1500W peak.
unless there's a better way ?

now I'm quite stuck with the sound and video.

I'm at my stock Blaupunkt headunit at the moment so my question was how to wire the audio to that temporarily ?

and for the video, what would be the best way to wire it after I buy a new headunit and monitor ? try to get a monitor with VGA / DVI or is there another way to wire it ?

thanks.

1. Take the inverter and throw it in the garbage.
2. Go to www.mp3car.com and pick up a DC-DC PSU with automatic startup/shutdown controller.
3. Build low power computer with laptop parts.
4. Use VGA touchscreen monitor.
5. Buy a 4 channel amp to power the speakers as the sound card won't do it alone.
6. You're done.

I just finished buying all my parts, it was about $1500 for everything including all the small stuff. I'll post a link when I'm done but you'll appreciate it so much more this way. I had the same idea with a $200 budget when I started until I did some research.

No worries. The guys on the forum over there are great, just don't ask questions without checking the FAQ first. And PM me with any questions you have.

Since DC-DC PSU only go up to about 160 watts, I doubt you'd be able to run a Micro-ATX and all the components off of that. You need low power consumption.

hey DeX, here's a link to where I bought that 300W DC http://www.cartft.com/catalog/il/407

and here are some pics of my install, I really wanted to have a really good powered system, so i went for normal ATX form factor but I regret it already lol.. takes up so much place in my trunk but I'll either sell and switch to ITX or just get it moved to where my spare wheel is at.

P.S. Sorry for the junk in the trunk, but I took em right after I got it installed

oh btw, what front end is that ? never seen it, and what Navigation software do u use ? because I tried most of em but they are all crap or not made for 7" screens lol.
