Question Where to Mount Crossovers for Tweeters?

I'm changing my stock speakers out and keeping the stock HU. I bougth a JBL amp and Rockford Front speakers and Infinity References for the back. I finished installing the back speakers and almost done with the front. Can someone tell me the correct place to mount the crossovers on a 05 Civic Sedan. I would like to put them on the door. Is that recommended?

Ok, I just put a pair of Infinity Reference 6010 cs Speakers in the front door of my 04 Coupe. I took the crossover and made a "holder" out of styrofoam and whittled a slot to stick the crossover in. I made sure it fit snugly and taped it in. I then proceeded to place the crossover into the door. I inserted it into the door through the speaker hole and placed it under the metal pipe that runs through the door. As I soon found out, if you cut the styrofoam out and leave a little room around the crossover, you can snugly fit it in between the pipe and the bottom of the door, leaving very little, if any at all, room for rattling cuz that is what I was worried about. The styrofaom shouldn't allow the crossover to move at all because it is wedged between the pipe and the bottom of the door and it won't interfere with the window. If you want your crossover to be visible, this will not work though, and not so sure bout the 05 cars, but I think they should be similar. I installed the tweeters into the factory positions using the optional flush mounting bracked at, with a little help from the dremel tool and a grinder, made them fit tight and look clean too, but I'm not so sure bout the RF speakers. This install works great and I just ran the wires in the door. Good luck anyways.

There's a panel in there above the pipe this guy is referring to. You can easily slip it behind there and attach it with your method of choice. I've seen them ziptied in there even. It's not the prettiest thing, but it gets the job done. If you want to go for the gusto. Mount it to a piece of wood. Once that is mounted, glass the wood into the inside of the door(I'd suggest above this pipe behind the glass). Then is't secure as you want it.

Thumbs up Mounted Crossovers Inside Door

Thanks for the advice. I actually drilled 2 holes on the opposite side of the speaker hole towards the bottom end of the door and made sure the crossovers were screwed tight with fasteners on the ends. Seemed like a tight fit and no rattling at all.

I'm wondering what you made to mount the speakers in the stock spots. I didn't end up installing my front door speakers because when i saw that stock speaker and how it was mounted I got so confused! There was no spot for me to just screw my new ones into. I'm also worried about the wires that the stock speakers came with. It has a little clip on the end of two wires. 2 sets of green wires and 2 sets of red ones? Can i just Twist the two green ones together and the two red ones together and attach it to my aftermarket speakers?

Sorry, just another quick question. I have Kaption 6.5's and was wondering if i could just mount them to a piece of 3/4 of MDF and bolt it into the door and then my Kaptions get screwed into it. Will I have enough clearance so the window can still go down and so that the door panel can be put back on?

Well I will be wiring it to an amp at some point. Does this mean I have to wire new wire into my door and then to the amp? Its no problem I just thought it would be easier to use the existing wire and wire it behind my head unit. Oh an another couple questions... 1) I have the 2dr Honda Civic with tweeters and was wondering if I do wire new wire will my tweeters still work? Or are the stock door speakers and the tweeters hooked up together? 2) I have an Alpine V12 Power 650 amp powering a Pioneer 12" already and now i want to amp my Kaption front speakers, can I just split my remote wire and have two amps running off it? 3) My head unit has the option for balance (left and right, front rear) I'm just wondering how this will work once i wire new wire to my speakers and to my amps? Nothing will be hooked up through my head unit. This means i lose all my balance right? I never change it its always set to zero and perfectly balanced but I'm just wondering? Thanks so much. I have alot of stuff to be answered!
Thanks.
