2001 Civic EX (Auto) - O2 Sensor Differences

Hello,

Does anyone know for sure the difference between the O2 Sensor that is located in the front and the O2 Sensor located in the back. Apart from the cable being sized differently, are there any other differences? The reason I am asking is because I want to replace the O2 Sensor in the front with another sensor that is designed for the back. Is it possible?

Thanks.

the front one is for air:fuel ratio (which affects how the car works), the second below is for the cat and only deals with emissions.

I'm pretty sure the primary is "smarter" than the secondary. The secondary is just running a check, the first one is looking for a value.

both of the above is correct.

this is not
I want to replace the O2 Sensor in the front with another sensor that is designed for the back.
just buy the right one. it will save you in the long run - if you fail inspection, then you will have to buy the right sensor AND pay for an authorized Emission repairer for the install to pass the re-inspection.

I would also replace both of them at the same time (IF its my car) but that's just me

***it seems you have had this problem for a while now. did you replace them back in 2005?

Thanks for the information.

XxSoVeReiGNxX, I did purchase a new O2 Sensor for bank 2. Now I have to replace bank 1 and found one at an auto salvage. Well, it turned out to be the one for bank 2.
