how do i get that sound when i shift?

ok, so i was driving my boss' mustang the other night, and when i shifted into 3rd, i heard that sound...you know, the one in the movies? that "ka-chunk" sound that is sooooo tight? i know this is odd, and keep in mind i'm just throwing this out into the "sea of civic-owners", but is there a way to get that? Yeah! Mines does it! When my car was new i just would sit in my driveway and rev my engine up real high till the valves float then i would put the stick half way in gear and let go of the clutch then just grind tha chit out of the gears! Then i realized that my throw out bearing was making a clicking noise! so im gonna write a diy of how to destry your clutch/ throw out bearing! Dakota

The ka-chunk noise is NOT a good noise to hear in a Honda, it usually means one of the gears is stripped badly, and the noise is caused when the gear spins independently and finally hits. It's a natural noise in many domestics, but it's bad for a Honda transmission.

ALL RWD drive cars with manual transmissions sound like that... reason is.. the Shifter is hooked DIRECTLY into the gear box.. no linkages..you're hearing the Dog teeth engage and the plate that holds then make contact with the gear itself..

cheers
