a little confusion with cats, downpipe...

i want to do the dx to ex exhaust conversion but i'm a little confused. i need to buy ex headers, downpipe, ex cat, and ex catback exhaust. are the downpipe and cat one in the same? or are these two separate items? for 04 civic

ok hopefully i can clear this up for you because i have the swap. dx/lx's have the cat inside the manifold. the ex's have the cat inside the downpipe under the car. so the ex swap you will need the ex header ex cat pipe/downpipe and ex exhaust. i used dc header, random technologies cat pipe, and greddy evo 2 exhaust. you will need a ex sway bar as well to do the swap because the dx/lx swar bar doesnt have to go around the cat as the ex does. you can also use a rsx swaybar which is what i would reccomend

you will also have to extend your o2 wires, make sure not to mix up the white wires and also make sure to solder them and run loom or cold shrink tape around it to seal it up. i did btoh cold shrink tape and loom

sorry man i have been really sick lately havent been able to sleep at all for the past week so i am like a zombie. actually right now i am not running a sway bar becasue i still have not ordered a replacement. if its $170 for a stock swaybar then that is a rip off. you can find them here and on clubrsx for like $50-70. if you are talking about the h&r sway bar they have listed at $170 its only 20mm and you can find a stock type s sway bar that is 24mm for much cheaper. i say dont waste your time with the stillen look here in the for sale forum

is this a ex sway bar? if not then its of no use. but that isnt a bad price especially from a dealer. but the better bet is still to get the rsx type s for aboutthe same price.

not bad for a dealer but you can find a type s swaybar for about the same online ebay or here. that would be a better purchase but it will be used.

understandable but that is how you end up spending money twice. why do something the easy way first if you in reality want the upgrade. because the fac tis if you want something better youll probably buy it later on and now you have bought a stocky and a beefier one. it wouldnt have been money wasted if you looked around lets put it that way.
