Fabrication Question
My brother is trying to gather information for his sequential turbo project hes doing. One thing he is sort of stuck at is how people typically go from a round pipe to fit to a square flange on his turbo??? I have no idea how to do this that would be easy which the answer may not be easy in the first place. I'll try to get pics to better explain myself.

Rep Power: 295 I guess thats what it would be.... But I have no clue who would be able to build that for us. It seems like every exhaust shop I know around here doesn't have the expertise to do that, but I have no clue.

you can buy merge collectors.
www.burnsstainless.com - they're expensive, but make gorgeous stuff. They're prolly cheaper elsewhere. I think even summit racing sells them.

Rep Power: 295 Thats close to what I want, but I don't have four small pipes going into one, I have one big 3.5" round pipe, going into a 2 small rectangular openings like most turbos are on the exhaust inlet. I'll check summit though.

Rep Power: 0 Here is what you need. This is called a collector:
Some have turbo flanges on the end. This does not. It is itended for a header, not a turbo manifold.

Those are just mounting flanges? Your making it sound like you need a collector.

Rep Power: 295 Well basically I need something that goes from one big round pipe to a square flange. I should really have my brother post on here later to show exactly what he needs. That turbo collector you showed would be nice if:
A.) it fits the flange of my brothers turbo
B.) was one big 3.5" pipe instead of the 4 primary pipes
I thought that HKS piece might be close to what he wants because you could weld a conical diffuser to the HKS flange then weld that to the 3.5" pipe.

Rep Power: 285 so you are trying to make a 3.5" round pipe match up to a 2" square?
Sounds like its for an Intake pipe, or a downpipe......
Why not take the pipe, cut 4 long slits in it equidistant apart and cut wedges out. This will make it a cone. Then cut it where the opening is 1.128" (1.128" round pipe has the same volume as a 2" square). Then heat up the pipe and form it into a 2" square.
If done right, you will have a decent, low-budget 3.5" round to 2" square adaptor.

Rep Power: 295 Ok here's a tracing of the flange and a tracing of the 3.5" pipe. He needs to know how he can weld the 3.5" pipe to the new flange. The slit idea seems like it would work also but just need some different ideas. My brother also wanted to know if anyone does any custom flange fabbing on here that would have prices comparable to the local machine shop? He would rather have someone who has experience with turbo flanges...

Rep Power: 295 I guess hes trying to get it close to that rectangular shape as possible. I think hes just gonna pound the pipe and make cuts to get it to fit then just weld everything.
