Alright jersey guys, help a former Jersey guy w/ directions

Going from DC to MA. I need a bypass for the GW bridge. Looking at turnpike to 287 over the tapanzee (I think?) then following 287 until it meets back up with 95 in Conn. Wiser move than taking the turnpike all the way up or is the big loop up and around not going to save me any traffic headaches? I assume the NY bridges are no different that the DC bridges... they're all ****ed 24-7.
Its been 9 years or so since I've been up around there, I'm a bit shaky on the roads.
The other one is which turnpike exit gets you onto 287 (is it 10 or 11?)
Local directions or another, better alternative would be much appreciated. Thanks

287 is exit 10 i think, cause 11 is parkway....... if your gonna go to MA just take 95 all the way up

I don't want to take the GW bridge. I know better than to try and do that. Which is why I'm looking for a bypass.

i use to go to school in NH, and i use to take the garden start parkway to the new york thru way, over the tapenzz, to 684, 684 goes right to 84 take this hight way towards danbury, ct contuine to waterbury then hartford.....once you get into hartford on 84 you can either stay on 84 and go right into mass(boston) or get onto 91 and go towards springfeild, mass.

Hope this helps!!!!

Yeah... I just looked at the map. I think what I'm going to do is go to 95 (TPK) to the GSP, then pick up the thruway, over the bridge and take 287 (which splits back off the thruway) and pick up 95 again in connecticut (84 goes way too far west, i need to head out towards cape cod).
Thanks man. +rep
