NEED IMMEDIATE HELP!!! black sh*t on the chrome (clearing headlights)
my first headlight went fine, not even a finger print on the chrome. the second one is a disaster. theres is black sh*t all over the chrome, it got there from separating the inner chrome piece from the lens. it was thick and in multiple places, but i scraped most off with my fingernail, but theres still a thin layer of sh*t on there
anyone have any idea how to get it off theres also a little bit on the lens, i have no clue how the hell that happened

I got a little bit on one of my crome pieces and I got it off with Gasoline, it worked fine for me.
it also worked for getting it off my hands.
but like ToastyGhosty said what works for one person, might not work for another, and you should do it at your own discretion.
I only got a tiny amount from resting the chrome piece on the carpet in my room. hehe. my parents still can't figure out what the black stuff on my carpet is.
my house has white carpeting.
white carpets with little black dots. hehe (their not too noticeable)
good luck

When you used the acetone, did the chrome come off when trying to take off the black sealant? I don't want to take a chance and ruin the chrome. Also what was used to take it off, a soft sponge, cloth? I also read that you can use an oven to heat up the housing to make it easier to separate, how long does it have to be in there and at what setting. I don't want a baked headlight. hehehe

i originally screwed up mine; after getting black sh*t on the chrome i used Mean Green cleaning solution (dont ask why) and it took some of the chrome off! so i just covered my mistake with eyebrows.......
