also the 01-05 civic ex vtec isn't real vtec compaired to the b16, b18, k20a2 and k20a vtec.

i-VTEC
DOHC VTEC
SOHC VTEC
SOHC VTEC-E
3-Stage VTEC
When i say real vtec i mean performance vtec like the k and b series motors have not vtec-e like the 01-05 civic ex's have. I understand your point yes it is a version of vtec so it is real vtec, the ex's do have 2 cam lobes for each intake valve. But to me i don't consider vtec-e to be real vtec. I consider real vtec to be what the b16,b18 and k20a2, k20a's series motors have where you can hear and feel the vtec change over. Sorry we had a sort of misunderstanding.

There was a huge thread on this whole V-tec E thing! And I believe the 02 EX DOES NOT have V-tec "E". But I could be wrong. Also I dont consider I-vtec in the SAME class as vtec. Just my oppinion, it's alot more complated.

Yeah i heard something like that to.
According to this thread the 01-05 ex's have vtec-e and it does mention something about the ep3 having similar vtec to the 01-05 ex's

yes there already is a thread about the different versions of vtec.
http://www.7thgencivic.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=188161
Yes the ex does have vtec-e. There is a guy that disassembled the ex head to prove it. There's also a vtec lean which is on the hx. Both are basically economy vtec. The ex version gives a little more performance, hence the 127hp to the crank rather then the 115hp.
