hey, anyone happen to have a spare gauge light lying around? possibly a white or green one for the cruise control light? hehe that and some 168 hyper whites for the front map lights
anyone?
got any of that in your warehouse, you call a bedroom, Brad?
That or is there a reputable salvage/junk yard around the Ocoee, winterpark, etc general area?
I be too lazy...but i'm gonna look it up in the phone book....

Hey gear you know the little bulbs behind the A/C mini button, for the recirculation and A/C and drefroost (not the big one on the left) are those easily changed to red?

ya you need to take off the whole piece from the back that has all three buttons, pry off the button covers, remove the stock film, then put red taillight tape in place and put it all back.

ah so the bulbs just have films on em? would a condom work the same or would it be hindering light output or would the film be better?

no the bulbs are clear. the film is on the dials and behind the buttons. remove those and you'll just get that bulb light (yellowish/amber). so you take off whats there and then put the red film. a condom might work, but i think its easier with film and also cause the dials are brighter when you're done and i had to put another layer of white paper to block some light and make it even with buttons. turned out good

went and ordered 3 packs of polarg 168's and I'm checking (still) around at the local junkyards and shiz for that damn lil light and brown piece
Here's a question I haven't seen in the forums. I have a 02 ex sedan and have always been jelious of the red panel lights the coupes have. But not because their red, because their different. I don't think I would like the red lighting. But, is it possible to change the 74 bulbs to different colors and maybe achieve a hyper white or blue panel? I don't even no how many there are and where they are located... I just want my dash to light up uniquely!
Thanks!

i had my entire dash and gauges blue once got i went to red eventually on my sedan. it takes work but is possible. and not by just replacing bulbs. just use LED lighting.
shroomster i'll post pics of my crap and you can pick out what you need for shipping cost.

replacing the bulbs
so should I replace the #74 bulbs and add LEDs? If I did hyper white #74 bulbs and hyper white LEDs would that look badass? or would it look too close to what I had before? also, do u recomend using the #74 filament bulbs or the #74 LED bulbs? I heard that the filament bulbs aren't as bright, but they disperse the light more equally amongst the panel. But the use of the hyper white filament bulbs along with a few hyper-white (or blue- haven't decided yet) LED's mounted randomly might make the best effect. I've never done this and I know I'm a newb... I appreciate ur patience.
Also, are their bulbs inside the stock CD player or does it get its light from behind it?
Thanks!

its really alot harder than you think. you can't just replace the bulbs they are too small. there are led kits at www.ledautomotive.com if you want, but not sure how they light up. when i did mine, i used separate leds and wired them independently. took out all the stock bulbs and the filters so only the led light shone through. and you need to position the leds so they face forward. i even did the cluster with EL and blue leds for the needles.
sweet...
that's awesome! did you have to replace the needle? I saw a forum topic about doing something with the needle... something like shaving it for some reason or another... how involved was making the needle blue? also, what does EL mean? again, thanks for ur patience...

EL = electroluminescence. another type of lighting that uses ac current to light up organic phosphor. For the needles, I had to rub off the orange with alcohol and paint the bottom white. i still have my diy saved I could email it to you.
Man... that would be awesome! my email address is Michael.Hughes@selu.edu .
btw, that LED conversion website is pretty cool... but it does seem like quite a hassle. Maybe it will be worth it Sedan's won't have those little red filters behind the buttons, will they? I have stock gauges... with the DIY you send me, will I be able to change the color my numbers light up?

i'll show you how. its easy to do red cause you just swap the stock greenish filters for red ones. i used taillight tape. you gotta take off the filters anyway if you are using leds or it won't be bright enough. just upzip that file and you should have a folder and a web page.
