turbo with a/c question

Ok I had to repost again since I didnt get my question answered. Did you guys have any problem with putting your turbo in and keeping your a/c. I have a obx manifold and t3 turbo. Did anybody have any problems with the a/c being in the way?

*and yes I know some people think the obx manifold sucks, but we have a welder and we will be reinforcing it. Also the manifold is lifetime warranty.

Its not going to have a lifetime warranty if you reweld it. Just so you know.
And I've yet to hear anyone have issues with the air conditioner except w/ Dezod's Race mani.

The OBX manifold DOES infact get in the way of the A/C lines... You'll either have to reroute the lines or loose your a/c.

thanks R1style. now I am wondering if I need to chop the manifold or need to weld the pipes differently. havent tried putting it on, so I have no idea how things are going to fit.

how exactly are you going to reinforce it? The weakness is not the welds, but the material. It cant handle the heat + vibration + weight.

I suppose you could make straps out of some material and basically weld strips that follow the runners, but other than that....

Im not trying to be mean or funny in any way. Im just trying to warn you. I have an OBX manifold in my garage (no i didnt buy it, it somehow appeared there one day) and i dont know how you could reinforce it and still keep it looking decent.

Also, when you modify it, what type of welder are you going to be using? I strongly, strongly, strongly recommend a TIG. I cant emphasize how much better and how much stronger it will be if you have someone properly TIG weld it together. When you mock it up, you can tack weld it together with a MIG. But take it somewhere with a TIG. It will be well worth the time.

I think I am the only person running that manifold and it retains both ac and ps.

dude... i had an obx manifold for my car but i figured i'd take people's advice and not use it... well, i had a custom manifold made and i used the flanges from the obx one... the walls of the piping comming off the header were no more than 1 cm thick... so thin, they'd crack in a heart beat, so when you'd have to re-weld it (which you will) you'll have to unbolt your downpipe and take the whole turbo/manifold off...

im sure it'll work with a/c but save yourself headaches and hassle and just buy a better one, maybe try and sell the obx one, i didn't want the hassle so i just hacked it up...

i'll take pics of the obx one to show you how thin the piping is.. good luck

I didn't have to do anything special. The manifold was designed around it.

I thought that you meant you were the only one that retained the a/c.
I know what you meant...now.

CivicLX_Black should not be trustedCivicLX_Black should not be trusted
i heard from a person who bought it that it was to long or something like that and interfiered witht the A/C and some other part
Look at OBX:

Also take a really look of how long it is:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/OBX-0...spagenameZWDVW

Now there is a company that llok like it would work. IT looks more equal length but i could be wrong. TSUDO look:
