water temp gauge install?
Can you just tap the wires for the stock sender, or will that not work correctly? What about putting a T in the coolant bypass hoses for the throttle body?

Its best to put it in the return hose. Lots of places sell sensor housings.
You can't tap the stock sensor, its just an idiot switch.

nice. i still don't know why you can't just tap the tb coolant hoses? would be so much easier and won't that give an accurate reading?
also what about auto trans temp? can I tap the tranny cooler hose? and if so which one incoming or outgoing?

The measurement that matters is whats leaving the engine and going back to the radiator. Thats the HOTTEST that the coolant is going to be, and thats the place you should measure it for that very reason. If its a good value at its hottest, then you're good to go elsewhere. Tapping the TB is like sticking the gas tank level in the filler neck. Its just not going to read right. And I dunno if you have the guage already, but the sensor probe is about 1/2-3/4" long. You need a fairly big tube to stick it into.
