It will depend on the cost of the motor. I'd suggest contact CCRA/CBSA directly.

If you bring it into Ontario there will be 7% GST and 8% PST on the value.

There will also be a brokerage fee that will be dependent on who the carrier is.

Just drive over the boarder and get it done and then drive it back. Leave it with them and get someone to pick you up if you are close to the boarder, if not then kee savin

just dont ship it ups and the brokerage fees wont be too high.

You can do the brokerage yourself but then you gotta get your engine home from the point of entry (border) IF they charge you say $6000 for a motor you'd only be paying $900 in taxes, it sucks but were used to it and if you have to go across the border theres not that many ways around it, especially with something like an engine. I dont think brokerage is more expensive if your package is large, just a couple of forms.

FYI, Fedex ground doesn't go after you for small amounts of customs fee's owed to them, and they dont cut off your delivery either. Mainly because they just leave your package at your door, no real proof of you receiving it. With an engine, they just might ring your door bell

**Alternate Solution**

or do this, get the very basic engine swap done in Detroit or Buffalo, dont bother paying the mechanic to do tuning etc, if you get your car serviced in the states with Ontario plates I doubt you'll get the best prices, so try and find a reputable shop.

Have it towed across the border stating, hey it broke down while I was on vaction. The tow truck wont have any problem getting across the border, Ive crossed the border in a taxi before Im sure they'll let a tow truck through. Then you can have it towed to the Acura dealership to have your key reflashed, thus minimizing towing costs. A taxi from Niagra Falls NY to Toronto costs around $150 usd. Considering a tow truck burns more gas you could probably get it tugged for like $200-$400 cdn. You could just tow it to an Acura in the states or somewhere closer to the border and drive your brand new k20 beast home

Im envious
