Ex 421 Header For Lx??
Ex 421 Header For Lx??
Hate to bother everyone with this question because I see it has been asked. But the difference I have is I am not going to use a cat. What do I have to change to bolt up a EX 421 header to my after market LX exhuast? Will the EX 421 header reach to where the LX down pipe connects to the exhuast? Or will I have to have an extension made? Again I hope someone sees the diff, here I dont want to run a cat so will I have to modify my lx exhuast or will the EX 421 header reach to the lx aftermarket system? Let me know what you guys think, To is it even worth it? should I just put a OBX header for an LX on it that would eliminate the cat? Or would the 421 be that much better? Thanks peeps.

get the LX kamikaze header. it will get rid of the cat. prolly the best header ever made... www.bigjoshracing.com
I did the full EX exhaust conversion on my LX. I got a set of HP headers....then just bolted up the stock EX downpipe and midpipe to my HKS axleback. THe only thing you have to do is extend your O2 sensors (which is only 4 wires a piece). Evrything else bolts right up. If Im not mistaken....the 4-1 header on an EX bolts right up to the midpipe....doing away with the downpipe and cat. So if this is the case...get the race header....then just get a stock EX midpipe. Your LX axleback will even bolt right up to that. Just some info for you to think on.
I am still wondering if the off road ex pipe will mount to the aftermarket lx catback? The ex header is long and goes under the car, and it looks like it would conect right where the down pipe for the lx would. has anyone tried that. cause it looks like it would be really close in fitting.
no...the EX actually has 3 pipes and the header. It has the header, then the downpipe, then the midpipe, then the axleback. The LX is only 2 pipes plus header. On the LX, it goes header....then midpipe, then axleback. The midpipe on the LX goes right from the header ALL the way back. So you cant put a race header and keep the stock lx piping. Thats also why EX catbacks wont work on LX's.
my DC catback for my lx. is down pipe that connects to the cat and header. then the mid pipe, then that connects to the axle back. So my lx DC exhaust sounds the same as the EX the only diff would be the down pipe. So my question is, I am wondering if where the down pipe connects to the mid pipe on my lx is the same as the ex. If so then I could use the off road header for the EX without changing my exhuast. And when I contacted DC they said they had a off road header for an lx with there exhaust system. But there is no part number for it. So I am suspecting that it is because they use the ex one. If I am right about this, I just thought people should know. I need to make another phone call to DC.

Here is my OBX SS header on my LX with a d17a2 vtec swap. This is an older pic. Alot has changed and the whole engine compartment is alot cleaner now! This header fit just fine w/o any modification. For the secondary 02 sensor I used a 18mm spark plug non-fouler drilled out with a 7/8" drill bit to allow for the o2 sensor to fit inside (make sure not to drill all the way through just take away enough so the sensor will fit inside, you want to keep the hole at the end of the non-fouler small) It was necessary for me to install the secondary o2 sensor and non-fouler into the header before they were installed. If you DIY you will see what I mean. NO CEL SINCE I INSTALLED THEM!<G>
