I Just Realized Something...
I went to my local Honda dealership the other day to check out the 8thgen's (I really don't like the Sedan's) and I noticed the centre console.
Getting an aftermarket deck in their is going to be a PITA. You gotta replace the entire console!!!

an after market company is going to come out with a trim piece that replaces the entire center console. just like they did for the accord. it's just going to take time.
Thats the first thing I thought about when I saw the center console as well.
They clearly didn't design that aspect of the car to me "mod" friendly which is weid since it's a civic and they are trying to re establish themsleves in the sport compact market.
I wonder what other areas of the car will be harder to mod?

That's crazy... but as someone already mentioned, some company will come out with a kit somehow, it's only a matter of time...
I'm not a big fan of the sedan's either, but it could grow on me.

you think that's hard to mod.... just checked out a local dealer and they had an ex 5spd white coupe
popped the hood and the engine bay doesn't look mod friendly either... there's a massive dash extension over the engine and the new exhaust manifold is different with the cat bolted right up to it.... then the intake is going to be hard to replace with an aftermarket one too... wonder how the aftermarket companies are going to come up with to mod the new civics....
if you've seen the new civic engine bays... you'd know what I'm talking about... I didn't have a camera handy to snap some pics...

Sure a company will come out with something but it will never be OEM quality. I know a lot of the new Mazda's have the same problem and the kits that are availble for them are apparently really shiiiitty quality and cheap looking.
I spend way too much time on this website

ya lol the one for mine looks stock. I would say just get the dx. you don't need the few extra stuff and you can always buy rims and stuff. Same engine.

hmm could it be that stock sucks? haha. Factory decks will never be on par with aftermarket, unless you look as mazdaspeed protoge that got the kenwood deck.

Metra will come out with a kit for it, just like they did the 03+ accords...

but get ready to shell out $150+/- for the installation kit ALONE.

did anyone check to see if it has plug in adapters? it is MP3/WMA complient. if it has preouts, there is no need to replace it, unless you need a t.v.(
shigh
) or special crap(
) or something. i've read that they were going to make it more "tuner friendly," but i haven't gone to check one out yet....

the new jetta and passat have this thing programed into the ECU called "tuner block" where if someone tries to change parameters in the ECU, it just plain locks up. i hope honda is not as gay. I was thinking of getting an 06' GTI, but now I'm reconsideriting..

even if it has a couple of preouts, the factory deck will never put out as much power or clearity, per preout or per speaker, an aftermarket deck will.
BTW... that metra trim kit looks kinda cheapish for that amount of money

Just look at this...

Why, hello there! I want this for the OEM radio... DIY anyone? (lol! Yeah right! Although I want it for real

Now, a night picture... looks like a park at night.

And no, the car doesn't reach 220 mph... that's km/h.
I think it looks nice but the customization options there are close to bar-none. Sorta like the Civic... although as they said before, they customized the Accord's dash... they could do the Civic, it'll just take some time.
