k20 into a '99 Civic H/B?

Alright, I know I've posted this before... but that was before I had money, and also before I heard about the k series. What are people's thoughts on it, and also which version should I go for? Maybe even try to stick a k24 in? Also, what might a good price be?

Second question:
Co-worker wants to take a hacksaw or something to the bottom of my intake? Says I'll gain 2 horses and get a better sound... true/false/risk?

Thanks,

Thanks,
The K series motor that you want to put into your car is totally up to you and how much money you're willing to spend on the swap. It pretty much comes down to what you want to do with your car either all motor, swap + turbo, swap + supercharger, swap plus head swap.... and expect to spend at least 6-10 grand on final cost for everything.

second question.... what exactly does your friend want to do with your intake? if the intake is for your d-series motor, the most you'll ever gain with an intake it 1 maybe even 2 hp at the wheels no matter how you cut it or modify it... unless your friend has some way of force feeding the air like ram air, there won't be any difference in hp.... as for sound... all intakes sound pretty much the same.... i think the major difference in sound comes down to what kind of filter you use and whether it's a cold air or short ram application... even so, those 2 are hard to distinguish while driving...

you should check honda-tech or k20a.org. There a lot of people with k20 swaps in older civics. They have much more room in the engine bay to work with then our 7th gens.

Swap in a K24 block and K20A2 head. No brainer.
