Questions about a Turbo before I buy one.

I have a couple of questions about a turboing my car.

Things you may need to know about my car; I have and 01 civic ex with about 40k on it. Auto trans. I run AMZOIL in engine and tranny.

I am looking at a tsi kit with the T25 turbo at 5-6 psi boost.

Questions:
1. How much or will the turbo hurt my gas milage if stay out of the boost?

2. How often do you change engine oil with a turboed motor?

3. Can I still run 87 octane and not have any problems?

4. Will I be in the boost at 75 mph taching close to 3000 rpm?

I bought this car primarily for and ecconomy car with gas prices soaring. I get 35 mpg around town and 30 on the hwy doing about 75. I do not want to mess with my gas milage much at all but a little added power would be nice. I don't race my car now or plan on racing it if i turbo it.

Thanks for your help.

if you mean, will your gas mileage be affected by not boosting with a turbo connected, yes it will but not much turbos actually improve gas mileage though for the most part. No u cannot use 87 octane gas. You need to up the octane with a performance mod like this to decrease the chance of blowing up your engine, aka detonation. And for the last question, you should reach full boost at 2500 rpm with this kit. i have this kit, not installed yet but very soon. Now I hope that helped u because Im positive no one else will. Welcome to the forum, its a really good one and u will get lots of help here...But not with those kinds of questions. Use the search button located in the user bar on your home page. You should start immediately because if you would have searched, these questions would have been answered by past topics and threads. ALso, try www.turbokits.com, there is a ton of information on that site alone to answer these questions. So goodluck and hopefully these people wont make fun of u....

well first of all if you have these basic type of questions then apparently you are not anywhere near of being ready for turbo on ur AUTO. Putting on a Turbo needs great TLC"tender loving care" and with these question your not exactly ready for it yet. So just read up on some more info. on this site and then think about putting on a turbo again.

So we can be expecting a small improvement n mileage??

Any idea what's the AR for the TSI turbo kit's T25?? Full boost at 2500rpm... that will ensure a great drive and pickup most of the time rite??

1. mpg will go down slightly with fuel management mods
2. 3000 miles
3. 93 octane
4. on a t25, in boost

if you like your mpg, dont mod your car at all.

1. haha staying out of boost I suppose that it does hurt the MPG a little but im in boost more then i thought i would before

2. same as normal

3. I recommend no less than 91

4. Boost is dependant on load, you can be at 5000RPM with no boost but not likely. I can be in to boost in the low 2,000's RPM if the load is there
