New Nitrous Times (I suck at driving though)
Went to the track tonight, got only one run in with nitrous and I decided to make it worth while, so I slipped in the 75 shot
. I get up to the line thinking to myself, alright just rev to 3200 and drop the clutch and get ur self a 2.3 60 foot and let the nitrous do the rest. So I get up there and the guy stages real quick so I take my time. I hit the 2nd stage button, and I hold the ebrake and rev up the car and I look up and the tree is already on the 2nd light. I got too excited and didn't take my time and dropped the clutch at like 2700 or so RPM, my car barely spun at all and got traction at like 3000 and I hit the button at 3500. Heres the slip:
R/T : .215
60' : 2.520
330' : 6.485
1/8 : 9.661
MPH : 77.56
1000: 12.387
1/4 : 14.648
MPH : 97.47
Weather was mid 80's sunny and moderately humid. I can't tell you how mad I am right now.
Can some track guru tell me what I would be running if I had a 2.2-2.3 60 foot?

Whats been the highest trap speed with nitrous for our cars? Yesterday was hot and sort of humid so I bet when it gets down to the 60's I can only improve. I just need to get my head out of my *** when I'm about to race.
Do you guys hold the ebrake while your on the starting line so you don't roll back or forward when you rev up to launch?

you should not have to hold the e-brake at all. 1/4 mile drag strips are supposed to be on a level, flat surface, meaning that if you have the clutch in, you should not roll. you just line up, come to a stop. then take your foot off the brake and hold the clutch in and use your foot to rev the gas. your car shouldn't move unless you are engaging the clutch.

Ive had times though were maybe Im not staged enough or I deep stage, and my car moves when I rev up or when I let go of the foot brake. So yesterday when I used nitrous, I held the ebrake released it as I launched but it screwed me up. I held the ebrake, revved, launched, hit nitrous button, shift as soon nitrous is on because the revs climb ridiculously fast in first gear all in like 3 seconds (feels like 1 when your actually doing it though).

hey guys. top speed overall doesnt make the times. My civic went 13.60 at a little over 101 mph (101.887 to be exact)
I had a 2.0 60/ft. With a 2.3 60/ft i went 14.0 @ 100 mph.
If you were to bring your 60/ft down to a 2.0 (a good set of DR's would do it), you would be in the 13's.
Just look at his damn times.
R/T : .215
60' : 2.520
330' : 6.485
1/8 : 9.661
MPH : 77.56
1000: 12.387
1/4 : 14.648
MPH : 97.47
If he were to shave his 60/ft down to 2.0, that would shave off .52 seconds. Also, that would mean that by the 60/ft mark, his car is actually moving at a faster rate. This means that he would have a higher MPH (giving that his sticky tires arent slowing him down at the top end, which some do). And if he simply shaves off that .52 seconds, he is running a 14.128. Then if he picks up 1-2 mph, that will set him at ~99 mph. That is a possible 13 second run.
In only 1 night with my civic, i greatly improved my time. When i first got to the track, i was running the stock firestone tires on the stock steely rims. on 9 psi, the best time i could pull out was a 15.3 @ ~97 mph. Constant 2.6 60/ft times. So after several runs like that, i put my MT ET DRAG's (mounted on Integra GSR alloys) on my car, and i dropped down to a 14.0 @ 100mph, 13.9 @ 100mph, and a 13.6 @ 101.8mph
Ask elementgts from my crew (www.controlledinertia.com).
He makes 183 whp on his celica. Here is his slip
2.117 60/ft
8.886 1/8th
79.54 mph
13.740 1/4
101.13 mph
And this was his first time at Carlsbad. He has the actual slip and a video to back it up.
Also, another crew member went 13's, but at 98 mph.
.183 RT
1.940 60/ft
5.618 330
8.729 1/8 et
79.27 1/8 mph
11.409 1000
13.690 1/4 et
98.48 1/4 mph
This is in an 85 MR2
Before i put the Ecsta V711 tires on my 85 vette, i was running a 14.0 @ 107 mph with a 3.0 60/ft time.

your argument is flawed in many other ways, and the cars you are comparing are completely different, not to mention many other factors.
anyways, you can talk about theoretical crap all you want about if he did this or that or this, but that won't help him bring his ET down.
rather than argue about what we think he can or can't do theoretically, let's stay on topic, and help him with tips on becoming a better driver.

i was just saying to bring down his 60/ft.
i know the cars are different. Im just giving him something optimistic to look at. If you guys keep telling him "you will never hit 13's, its cant be done" he may get discouraged (not saying you personally are saying this, but many people have). Ive seen it happen before on this website. But it is possible for him to run 13's.
It is completely logical. If you cut your 60/ft down by .5 sec, it will reflect your 1/4 time by that much, possibly more.
I have all the timeslips to backup what i said about my times. In fact, i posted all of them a long time ago under my old name. I can post them again if you like, but i would have to dig them out since i have moved 2 times since i ran those times.

here is something optimistic to look at.....
my 85 vette. I went 14.0 @ 107 mph at LACR on some hard ***, treadwear 400 tires.
All i did was swap tires to some 275 60 15 Kumho Ecsta V710's
now the car runs constant 12.90's.
i cant wait to actually use the nitrous on it.

I know. just saying that 107 is a pretty low mph for the time it runs. its all in the first 60 feet. Which is a 1.6 - 1.7 in the vette.

much closer then LA, or vegas. And way better then running the lame 1/87 mile tracks at Barona or the Q.

none the less, it's a good accomplishment when you get yourself from 14.0 to low 13's. lol

I had thought someone said for every tenth of a second you shave off two tenths of your quarter mile et. Is that only for certain cars and slower cars or what. It was that celica 6-speed guy that said it can't remember his name

I will try to make one more appearance at the track before I go to school. Im shooting for a 2.3 60 foot which should put me for a about a 14.4 maybe 14.3 depending on the weather.
