bypass valve for injen RD1565

I trying to get one from ebay. Anyone know the length of the tube of the RD1565? Not sure if it a 2.5" or a 3.0"
http://www.injen.com/new_layout/prod...p2/RD1565P.jpg

here some item i seen on ebay: ( Not sure how good are those items) i want to get one before the raining season. There are many others, but they all look the same type.

I already have install my intake a while back, so all i have to do is take the rubber off and put the bypass valve? Not sure if i have to take it apart.

the length of the tube is longer then 2 or three inches, but the diameter is 3 inches.

and you dont need a bypass valve... waist of money. the only way you will hydrolock your engine is if you completly submerge the intake filter in water with the car running, basically drive it in a pond and get stuck or fill it with a water hose.

It happened to me with the injen CAI. I drove through a flooded street and basically the CAI had a nice big drink and my car died. I was glad I didnt hydrolock the engine though. At the time it was towed to a shop where they sucked out the water from the cylinders and drained the oil and what not, got it running, then a week later the TPS sensor went. But if you do happen to suck in water, you have a 50-50 chance of hydrolocking it. Basically what happens is since you cant compress water, the rods in the cylinders will give and bend causing your engine to lock up. then you will either need a new engine or have it rebuilt. Best bet would be to drive carefully. But like injen said, it has to be submerged in water.

Do you have a bypassvavle for your car? Not sure, but if you had a bypassvalve going though that flooded street, would it drain all the water. My car is mostly use for going to school, which is not far away. What happen if rain drop or splash of water get suck in , what would happen to the engine? I want to be safe, rather then getting my engine messup.I try my best to drive careful.

No I never had one. I really dont know if they work or not, but I have seen them do a demenstration on a acura NSX where it had a bypass valve and they submerged the filter in water and ran the car and the car never died.

Now like I said, your filter has to be submerged in water for anything to happen. Other then that, driving through a small puddle is ok.

A splash will not do anything. You need to dunk the whole filter in water. Suction must be created where the engine is drawing water only. If you're stupid enough to get in 18" of water, you deserve to hydrolock your car. Not to mention you'd have to back flood the bumper cavity, which wouldn't occur instantly. So you'd have some time to realize how stupid you were before you suck water in. There's a video on the net somewhere of some guy just spraying a hose at an intake as someone is revving the engine, water splash does nothing.

Thumbs down

bypass is not a waist of money, it could save u thousands of dollars.
My dad drove through this " http://www.pulse24.com/News/Top_Stor...9-003/page.asp " yesterday with my car and amazingly nothing happened to the engin thanks to the bypass. If u get a CAI, U NEED A BYPASS imo.
