Now, if Toyota was smart, they'd make a hybrid that looked a little more like a car and a little less like a fvcking spaceship. I don't care how many miles-per-gallon it gets as long as it still looks like that.

Here in the midwest, I see maybe one every two weeks (at the most.) Why? It's definately not because we midwesterners like paying for more gas - it's because the whole spaceship look doesn't appeal to the market. Bottom line - if they either made the Prius look like a normal car or offered another hybrid that looked normal, they'd move more units, and, in turn, help the environment.

toyota (lexus) has release another hybrid...which is the RX330 hybrid...(dunno if the 330 part is accurate) but its an RX hybrid...also 110 mpg is not what the car get...it gets about 55 mpg but the electric motor was what powered it and got them that result of 110

I got to drive a Prius recently. It's actually a pretty nice car, with LOTS of room. The design makes it pretty versatile compared to a "car". I'd buy one, if they didn't cost so much. The usefulness of the Prius outweighs the unusual look as far as I'm concerned.
Also too bad Honda didn't offer a hybrid Civic coupe, only the sedan. The insight is just too small.

Yes, the Hybrid Accord is the fastest. But the Hybrids are still have a ways to go before I buy one. The batteries at some point will go bad and need replacing (even with proper battery cycling, which I'm sure most people have no idea what that is or why you would do it), and to replace the batteries is not going to be cheap. There are just to many additional parts to break IMO, and I know it's cliché, but the more parts you have, the more parts that will break. Frankly I prefer the HX, it's very basic and gets around 50MPG and is based on a simple VTEC motor like the one in the EX, much simpler and yet close to efficient as a Hybrid, (not to mention it cost about $6k less and has no batteries to worry about). The hybrid is much nicer driving though, quicker and has more feactures.

that's so ridiculous. last night i was talking to my dad, and he wants one because he knows a guy that gets 60mpg highway. thats just unreal though.
I like the prius. The styling is different and the gas mileage is awesome. I do have my reservations about the battery though. We'll see how the Prius holds up in the next three years. My civic has a ton of miles to go before i replace her, but my next car will definately be a hybrid.

I think it just depends on where you live. I know the midwest is more of a suv, truck strong hold, so thats probably the reason why your not seeing many of them. I know out here in california where 87 is $2.70 a gal, i see at least one prius a day. There fairly popular here.
I agree the Prius is ugly and would sell better if lt looked like say a Corolla. Im sure as hell not going to question Toyota though. After all, they developed hybrid technology. (and sold it to honda / ford / etc. etc.) so even if they dont sell many Prius they are still making a ton off of hybrids.
Nothing works better than a Chris except a Honda.

I'm sorry what? Toyota developed it and sold it to what? NO. Honda developed their own technology and so did Ford. Ford has a couple of patents that are similar to Toyota's patents so they had to settle that somehow. As far as I know however, I'm only aware that Toyota has sold some technology to Nissan so they can get a hybrid up and running.

Uhmmm.... yeah, Toyota didn't devlope the hybrid. Think about, electric cars have been out for decades, regenerative drives where devloped by an engineer that didn't even work for an auto manufacture, it was a hobby he had. All Honda/Toyota/Ford did is put the pieces together, none of them devolped any of the key componets of the hybrid systems, the only thing they did is intergrate them together via computers and such and then tune them.
