Sac plans to crack down on "Street Racing"
http://www.theautochannel.com/news/2...03/139317.html
$5 mil to crack down on cars that "look" like street racing cars. That includes our 105 hp civics, guys.
Looking for engine mods. Is it just me or is this pure stupidity? They wanna crack down on street racing, go to the races... don't target a car with a body kit and tint.
Needless to say this sort of pisses me off. Our schools don't have funding, our state is in the red financially, the nation is worried about terrorists... and cops are getting $5 mil to target slow civics.

I agree... this is a stupid idea. If they want to crack down on street races, then go where the illegal races are held and have a field day rounding all those folks up. They shouldn't punish those who put time and effort and money into their cars for show or legal racing purposes. That's just silly.
Must be another wonderful idea from Arnold...

i've been pulled over in stockton for my car just "looking" too low to the officer.
officer: "good evening, i pulled you over because your car looks too low. i'm going to measure it"
me: "ok...."
officer: "you modify your engine?"
me: "no."
officer: "can you pop the hood open?"
me: "...............ok........."
he then procedes to measure my car, and simply glance at my engine bay...probably just looking for some shiny metal intake and filter with some cool KoLoReD WiReZ y0!
i didn' t have front tint then, and i hope i don't get pulled over for "looking" too low again. YaRrR.

I got hassled by a cop tonight as a matter of fact... in the CRV no less. I was with friends out around Sunrise, and after getting chased off from two different parking lots already, a cop shows up and orders us to "get back in our cars immediately and leave". Of course, I'm the last one to leave, and this cop is right on my @$$. I make a wrong turn, but can't back up to correct because he's right behind me. Then he's got the ***** to say "If you want to start speeding, we can start writing speeding tickets", to which I respond (by yelling out my window) "I'm not speeding, I'm trying to leave". He then says "Leave!" over the loudspeaker and I yell again "I would, but I can't move with you on my @$$!" He backed off then followed me out of the parking lot and onto the street. I made sure to go 25 in a 40 mph zone so the **** couldn't get me for speeding. He eventually took off to harass other people who had congregated in other parking lots.
Typically, I respect cops. They have a hard job and I definitely would not be cut out for it. However, lately I've noticed that cops think they are above the law and they can treat anyone however they want to because they have a badge to back their crappy attitude. In my opinion, it all comes down to this: I have respect for those who have respect for others. You don't demand respect, you earn it. Some one needs to tell the cop from tonight that theory... oh yeah, and punctuate it with a big one fingered salute from me too.
