Should I take out rear seats?

I'm totally not sure if i should yet.. so i want some opinions first. From my POV, the pros are that it makes the car weight less, my subs will pound harder cuz of the seats removed, and look more customized. but on the cons, i duno how to do it yet, can only take 1 more person in my car (its my daily driver car ) so i want some opinions on this.

i wouldnt even consider it, seems like a pretty dumb idea to me

also it probably would look really bad. from what ive seen in my car, the carpet doesnt go much farther than it has to, so i really doubt theres any under the rear seats

I think it would look sweet if you took the rear seats out and then installed a custom sub set up where the seats used to be.

Sound like a good way to make your car less practical. How are you going to drive around with friends?

Most of us have removed the rear seats when replacing the 6x9's. Does anyone remember them being heavy???? I don't. In fact, I remember thinking how light they were. You will not notice any difference if you remove them. Plus, your friends will think you're weird : )

i saw, i think.. a 2000 civic without the rear seats.. he installed a roll cage and his subs/amp was back there.. and it looked sweet. as for me driving, i usually just have 1 person.. i dont like people in the back seats much. its harder for me to see out the back window. yea im weird i know so i really dont think the number of people i fit is ganna be too big of a problem, i duno. and as for weight, i woulda figured them to be somewat heavy. cuz i remember takin out the backseats on my friends dad windstar, and they were heavy as poop. maybe it was cuz its a soccer mom-van? beats me. well i guess i'll just keep the backseats for now. we'll see how it ends up

<< you can sell the seats >>

now that would be just plain stupid

what if he ever wanted to sell the car.. not gonna get much for it with no back seats, and the dealer will charge an arm and a leg for a replacement

sounds pretty stupid to me. why would you remove the back seat to save weight and then add a sub? sounds pointless. there are better ways to remove weight than removing a 6 pound cushion. (I made that weight up) You'd be better off removing the passenger seat and leaving the back seat.

I agree with UncleB your subs weigh more than your rear seat and why would you want to remove your back seat if it is a daily driver its not like you bought the car to be a full blown racer in that case get rid of everything that has some weight

God you're RICE!!! RICE ALERT!!!!

Sure, take em out, it's a free world. The'll make you look sophisticated and intelligent.

For one: All the other racers will back off if they see that you were smart enough to take out your back seats made of heavy FOAM!!!

Two: Sound, yup it'll sound better, so will the road noise. Just take out the rears speakers if your worried about not getting enough bass from your subs, or better yet just fold down your rear seats.

ARGH

Listen to loveshack, those back seats are super super light - there just molded foam covered in fabric. You'd loose 10x more weight taking out your sub - I know, i know, i wouldn't do that either. Also under your back seat is a big ugly metal plate - that's it. Believe me, it doesn't look sweet. But for your own satisfaction take out your rear seats - it's really easy, and see for yourself. You'll know what i mean.
Hope that helps,
Redsands

Anyone have any DIY on taking out your rear seats? I'm tired of driving 4 people to work. 3 in the rear 1 up front. They never take care of my car. So I have been thinking about this for quite some time and it would definately help with the car cleaning. Plus 5 people at 175+ pounds each thats over the max weight of the vehicle. So when I complain I get called a dumba$$...

The back seat weighs 25lbs. I have a 12in. sub in a band pass box that weighs 50lbs. I also removed the spare tire that weighs 25lbs all in all I took out 100lbs. I think I'm also going to take all of the extreme dynamate out.

Go ahead and take them out. It only takes about ten minutes to put them back in. I took mine out a couple of days ago. I also took out the piece of fiberboard in the trunk(That thing weighs a lot). You can feel a difference. I've been running with them out and about a qtr. tank of gas. Whoa baby! I need all the help I can get, b/c at the moment mine's an automatic.
