Here is the scoop on Honda Civic's next powerplants
If its a repost then please forgive me...
I got this directly from the owner of a honda dealership...Who actually was in meetings last week regarding the new civic..
Base models = 1.8 140 HP Not sure if DOHC or SOHC
upper models = 2.0 160 HP DOHC
si = 2.0 200 HP DOHC only available as coupe.
Honda canada said that the Si that was released will keep 90 percent of what we have seen to date so we are guessing that the ugly *** wing will be lost plus a couple of front end mods..
Also Jazz is comming to canada to compete with the echo.
Its nice to see that the civic is all grown up now
He did not see the sedan yet and many owners were very disapointed that in europe the 5 door civic would not make it over to canada. Everyone agreed that it would have been a great hit. Anyways he was promised that the Sedan would be equally very very nice and would have many new and updated features..
Viper Out.. BTW rep for info would be appreciated. I almost had to get down on my knees for the damn info lolll

Awesome. I'm glad to hear that upper models will get a great engine. Sounds like LX/EX models will get the higher end engine. That will REALLY make it compete against the 3, which is probably what they're aiming for. The 3 has 2 engines also. I wonder however if the DX will be continued or if they'll just put the weaker of the two engines in the LX model and discontinue the LX entirely, which would help them move up market also.

Wow... the value of the EP3 just went from little to 0. They're canibalizing their own lineup. Plus if the show Si is the car, they've signed the death warrant for the RSX as well.
I guess its what they need to do. They fell so far behind with everyone redesigning and coming out with 150+HP econoboxes, but basically they're obsoleting every Civic from 2001-now in one shot.

You guys have to look at the price and competition of the RSX, it's a FWD sport compact that basically only has the Mini as its competition, another luxery/compact. I don't want to see the RSX go either, but like the Prelude, it has just become too expensive. Scion has reevaluated that and priced the Tc right in the appropriate spot, below the Celica.
Anyway, yeah, it looks like 7th gens will be like the last gen Corolla, just intermidiate cars before a great car will replace it.

I don't think the RSX will be gone, they'll just make it better. c'mon, they just came out with a new model this year. you think they're going to redesign it for one year? I don't think so. they'll give it some more bells and whistles along with a more powerful engine. hell, maybe the new civic will drop the price of the RSX which would be awesome. RSX's own. but I'm not sure if'd take the new civic or the new RSX...that's a tough choice. I guess we'll have to wait for the final version of the civic to come, so we can see what it is going to look like. cause we've only seen the concept so far. concept are always really diff. than production model. I can promise you those pimp *** brakes will not be on the production model. I hope its an option though, like the SE-R with the brembo upgrade. that would be tight as hell.

yeah i dont think they will drop the rsx, the civic and the integra where almost the same car, integra was little more powerful and came with everything standard pretty much, so if they make the Si more powerful, then the RSX must get more powerful too.
they can easily pump it up to 250hp. maybe more. I'll bet they'll put the type-s engine we have now in the new base RSX, and then put the new and improved type-s engine in the new type-s...go figure that huh? :P lol if the s2000 has 240hp, the rsx type-s could have the same or more. it will just use more fuel than it does now. but hey, if you've got the money for a type-s, you've got money for gas.

First of all Stop saying that the RSX will not be dropped..IT WILL BE DROPPED PERIOD...
Do you think that my friend who owns a Honda dealership and was in meetings like all day last week would BS me...
Honda Canada confirmed to him that the RSX will be no more. Its gone its outta here buy buy see you soon..
The 2006 Si will be its replacement. Why the hell would they keep an RSX Type S when honda will be putting out a 2006 Si with 210 HP. They would be really stupid to do that..
Im not lying or making **** up ..The RSX is gone. im sorry but it all comes down to money. Why put out 2 products of equal offerings... GM does it but not Honda

Just to let you guys know the RSX will live on. The Next type R will have 265hp and it will be here in North America. The horsepower ratings that viper gave are correct. They will also bring out a new hybird version of the civic with 160hp. Also for Canada the new ELwill have 155hp. I got this from someone up here who currently works for Honda Canada.
^^
Honda has done it before. Just look at all the years the integra and si, they were out together. I'm not calling you a lier, because I have no idea what they are going to do. However, from a marketing stand point it would not be wise to get rid of the RSX. The RSX and the Civic (even the SI) have a totally different customer base, the RSX and the Civic are almost in 100% different markets.. people who are looking buy Civics dont buy RSX's and vise versa (except maybe 5%). I highly doubt Honda will kill the Integra (RSX) it has been their flagship track car for years. Maybe they just wont be selling it in Canada anymore, which I could see. The market there might not be good for the RSX at this time. Kinda like how the Eclipse was never sold in Canada.

werd ... I hate the ep3s anyway ... very ugly. 02-04 rsx's aren't all that great either ... 05's are pretty nice.
I hope the new civics won't have dash shifters like the ep3's ... T_T;;

Well if it isnt dropped and like some of you said who knows then there will be some major changes and different engines for sure....
I agree. the RSX will not be dropped in the US. its too popular to just make it go away. and they're finallky bringing a type R over the US? hell yeah. finally!!!!!!! the USDM was no japanese type R, but it was still a forcet to be reconed with. ah ha! I knew they'd bump the hp up to 250 or more. that's awesome. I'd trade my vic for one in a heartbeat...plus some cash of course. lol I'll bet the rsx-R will be about $28-30K, what u guys think?
