why does everyone hate on other cars
why does everyone hate the neon srt4 so much. Sure it may have problems but every car does. I had a 2001 civic ex and the first 4 months I had it It had problems.....STALLING, transmission, gas tank cover release, cv joints, intake manifold cracked, speakers wouldn't play, overheating. This was with it all stock and I was not even driving it hard plus honda gave me alot of shitt just to fix anything.
I traded it in on my focus svt. I have had some problems with stalling, Flywheel, and Varible cam timing when I first got it. Ford couldn't seem to fix it, BUT THEY DID DO A RECALL on it.
So I had a custom tune as well as some other modifications and haven't had any real big problems for a while.
My point is every car out there has issues no matter if its a neon, civic, focus, mercedies, bmw......etc
Why does everyone try to pick a fight. We are all car lovers just try to be adults about it.
I know I will get some bias opinions about what I say but why put something down just to make yourself look better....its just childish

It's a bandwagon thing right now. Probablly 90% of the people who start the brand wars couldn't tell you why one is "better" than the next and back it up with facts.

Its basic Psycology... People allways want to believe that what they have is better then what some one else has, because it makes them feel better.
regarding the SRT-4... to me, its designed to do somethign that I have very little interest in (the 1/4 Mile). so, I dont really care about it.

i had my vic for 2 months now. i had to bring it in for the clutch, the seat was rockin all over the place, now my trunk wont stay shut it just opens as i drive, i got some moisture in my pass door. hmmmm what else. my probe was 11 years old when i bought it and had no problems with it. i like my vic, but it def was not my first choice, i was lookin at the Focus SVT and the SRT-4 but just couldnt get them down to my price range so i got the vic... anyway what im sayin, is most honda owners and alot of car owers are stupid and iggnorante(sp?)... when i was on the probe forums they would make fun of honda, when i was lookin at getting a camaro, they would make fun of the mustang. so no matter what people are asses. my honda is not going to beat any car in a race, maybe a Geo Metro
and i dont think it is better than any other car. sorry about my little rant there
why are we talking about Ford, SRT4 etc etc again on a 7thgen civic site?
Soon a bunch of comparision will start and this already happend to many thread.
For the domestic fans, would you please find your own forum if there are?
thanks

That is realy the only justified car war, it was going on way before most people on this site where even borns, and those to cars a ment to do the same thing, go fast in a striaght line, so they are a fare comparision IMO.
But to compare a civic to an SRT-4 is just silly. and SRT-4 is more like an RSX-S, but that still isn't fair, the SRT-4 goes striaght, the RSX-S shines in turns.
People like Honda's becasue
1. the chances of getting a bad Honda is less than that with say a Dodge. This means both will make cars that a plegded with problems and both will make cars that will go for 300,000 miles.
2. I bought a Honda becasue of the resale value. A 5 year old civic is worth almost 50% of what you paid for it (depending on model). A 5 year old neon is worth 30% of what you paid for it. So I like Honda's becasue I feel like I am loosing less money in the end.
Reasons given why "one car is better than another" are purely subjective, and many should be thrown out the window when it comes to racing.
Every car company has its problems. If a car were "perfect" or far and away had less problems than any other, we'd all be driving that.
As far as the racing goes, 80% of mods will lower the reliability of the car over the long term. And as many can tell you - if you change one thing drastically, you have to change everything else around it.

How about this one then. My buddy was a mechanic at dodge. He drove the neon and said it was fast, but as with most dodge products they are built like ****. He does not like many dodge products. In the past they were known for very powerful straight line cars, built with cool features like doors that shut like cans of bolts, and as my pops put it growing up, you can hear and feel **** waering out every time you start it. Now I do not think its to far off the past, neon is fast but lets see how reliable it is. However i am partial to fords(older) and imports. I have come to find is not a mix well loved. But hey I tend to look at the bigger picture all around quality. I found it best to look up msn auto's and do a vehicle realiabilty report and see for your self the problems that owners had with most any cars. Thats how I knew what year and model to chose.

theres plenty of members on here who dont hate on other cars. im one of them. if anything id probably hate on the civic just because everyone thinks its such a hot-**** car or something when it really isnt. i mean i liked my civic for what it was, but theres definitely MUCH better cars out there and not for a lot more $$.
but zzyzx is right, everyone wants to think theyre driving the best car out there...and thats really impossible when youre driving a civic. but a lot of it also has to do w/ someones bad experience w/ some other model. whether they lost a race to one or had an older model that they hated. people just are stubborn to realize that things change and big companies, even ford, improve their cars.

These cars did not have small defets, like the rear view mirror becoming out of place, or the cupholders didnt work good enough. I bashed the Neon/Dodge because they make an inferior product. Period. Honda makes much more reliable cars, i thought everyone knew this? I wont say that some Hondas have had problems, because after all you are always going to have a few defects with whatever you make , especially if its in mass production.
there are 4-7th gens in my circle of friends, between us honda has replaced 4 transmissions under warranty.....some cars are better than others for sure, but everything is made to be replaced these days and there is no longer a car out there that dosn't fall apart in one way or another

sux and there is nothing that can be done except for change the whole setup.

If that's the case, take it back to the dealer, I think they extended the warrant to 50k on those model cars. It's known that the '01-'02 and some '03's had a smaller strut that simply could not handle the springs, Honda even saw this and extended the warranty.

Well, for I for one base my opinion on a few things, other than the resale that I talked about. I asked my mechanic about different brands of car, he said Honda and Toyota where the two brands he hardly ever works on. He gets them in all the time for oil changes and stuff, but all his regular customers seem to only have a fraction of the problems the domestic car have. Then I do things like look at a car when I see one broke down on the side of the road, not often do I see a Honda broke down, sure once in a while I see one, but they are generally 15+ year old Honda's. I just don't think Honda's tend to breakdown as foten as domestic cars. Yes companies can change there products, but that takes time, you don't go from making crap to making gold over night.
Just in case you wunder, I don't even drive a Honda, I have a Ford, but I don't plan on keeping it longer than it's warranty.
