Me vs. Friends RSX
Which do you think would win? My 01 LX Coupe vs. my friends 02 Base RSX. We both have AEM short ram intakes but he also has a magnaflow exhaust. The only advantage I have is a 5-speed manuel vs. his shift tronic thingy. Sooo.......what do you guys think? 1/4 run, complete safe none of that FnF traffic weaving.

Forgive my ignorance but:
160>115
What I mean is that while he has an auto can a 5-speed manual really make up an extra 45 horses? Although I know those rsx's are a bit heavier than our vics...hmm.....Im still saying rsx even though it would be closer than I originally thought...good luck to ya if you choose to do it!

Yea it has more horsepower but from a stop, you don't look at hp really. You gotta look at the tq on the engine. HP doesn't get your car moving, TQ does. 0-60 are based almost completely on the TQ # and curve of the TQ.
Civic Lx
TQ 110 ft-lbs. @ 4500 rpm
Weight 2536 lbs.
RSX - you said base so I'm assuming no leather
TQ 141 ft-lbs. @ 4000 rpm
Weight 2809 lbs.
He has more weight than you, but more than enough TQ (it looks like) to make up for the weight and pull on you. If it was a stick I'd be scared, since its a 5spd auto? I'd say he'd beat you still but not by a lot.

Yes, your correct in your explanation of TQ being the important number off of the line!
Horsepower @ RPM:
RSX (AT) 160@6500
CIVIC (LX-manual) 115@6100
Torque @ RPM:
RSX (AT) 141@4000
CIVIC (LX-manual) 110@4500
Curb Weight:
RSX (AT) 2809
CIVIC (LX-manual) 2538
My money is on the RSX...better torque, better horsepower, and the automatic RSX has the Sequential SportShift.

I would use the 15" rims I sold you instead of using your 18s that you have anthony.

A lot of people are spouting out torque and hp numbers, yet ignoring one thing.
the only important numbers are real world 1/4 mile. And as I said, a base auto RSX runs 16's. So it's a close race, and actually, the civic will probably pull and/or win.

I know what you mean s2kman, but we really dunno...soo I'm speculating off numbers. Thats all I can do.

It will be close with the LX if you drive well. If not he will win. My friend has a base RSX with the auto shifter and I pull on it with out any trouble at all, but I have more mods and a EX that weights less than your lx if you have subs and spare tire. It will be very close
