Spec V vs. Civic boosted?

Who would win? a SE-R Spec V or a 2001 civic ex at 6 psi? From the line? Then from a 40 - 100 mph roll?

my friend with a 2000 EX with i/h/e has raced two spec vs.. once with a passenger in his car (me) and the other guy had a passenger (which was a girl) so im assuming there was more weight added to the civic, it was probably from about a 40-100 roll (not planned, just happened) my friend floored it first, and the spec V (stock i assume) could never catch up or pass the civic... another time from stop my friend with the same civic (minus a header) raced a specv (modded i assume) with more weight added to it (1 more passenger i think, im not sure it happened some time ago) and the spec v was about half a car ahead the whole time and when we shut down (which was around 70 im guessing?) the spec V was starting to pull a little bit. I know the spec V is supposed to be weak off a roll and strong from a stop, but they aren't fast at all, especially if a civic can hang with it. Supposedly i think a specv with with i/h/e is supposed to hang with a wrx (so i've read)? so maybe modded they can get some power, but stock they are prettty weak. Spec V vs. a civic at 6 psi (untuned) would be no contest at all in any race.

6psi?

what's that? 160whp 170whp...?
DIG:1st and 2nd goes to the specV, 3rd and beyond is all civic.
ROLL:SpecV will pull half way thru 2nd... but as 3rd comes along, civic all the way.

it depends on the setup, tuning.. ect. Someone could have 170whp at 6psi while someone else has 140whp.. theres no set number. the general rule is 10hp every 1 psi though

A Spec V is a 15 second car. If you can run under 15 you should be good, in this case i think you should somewhat easily be able to beat him.

a spec v is a mid 15 sec car and the only one that I ran across is I was trying to pass and he downshifted and floored it so I down shifted and did the same. It was just me and he had a passenger I got passed him and he was pissed so he flew by me when I slowed to somewhat close to the speed limit and almost wrecked into oncoming traffic. So I would say the civic without a doubt.

Re: Spec V vs. Civic boosted?

The early 2000's spec v would get beat, but with the newer spec v it would be a good race. And damn only 160-170 whp with 6 psi. It would be a good race against my car.

Re: Spec V vs. Civic boosted?

what year civic? what engine civic? S/C or Turbo? Spec V only has 175 stock untill the new heavy bodys came out with 200hp. and not only that but almost every sentra weighs about 500+lbs more then most civics. my hatch weighs about 2300lbs

Re: Spec V vs. Civic boosted?

now if it was stock to stock the spec V is way faster then a civic since the spec V runs a 15 and the ctock Civic runs a 17 stock unless you mean a 07+ Si that runs a 14.9 stock there are too many variables to just make some guess, go to the track and run the 1/4 mile for yourself then come back and post your real time and we can tell you what you would do to a SPec V.

He said he has a 2001 honda civic ex which has the d17y8 and he is probably referring to a turbo.

you sure you dont meean a D16Y8? the D17 doesnt have that much power even with the VTEC model. if its a D16Y8 then he would have about 127hp.

and hes got about 8PSI? estimating about 8-10hp per PSI. so that be 64-80hp over stock. so yes id see the lighter car with about 200hp beating a heavy car with 200 hp every time, if the driver knows what hes doing. but seriously asking these questions dont prove anything, go to the track thats how you measure power.

Re: Spec V vs. Civic boosted?

I raced one back in my street racing days lol. I was stock and pulled about 3 cars at the start of the race then once my buddy hit 4rth gear in his Spec V he pulled me pretty good. So a boosted civic would have no problem with the added hp granted its tuned right to be able to beat the Spec V. Now if the Spec V is boosted..... no chance, they make some good power.

I dont remember why I put d17y8, I guess I was thinking bout the d16y8 and made a typing error. But the 2001 ex has a d17 vtec and produces 127 hp. And with 8 psi he will not get near 200 hp for one. A stock d17 vtec probably has 107 whp and with the turbo 8 psi you might be round 170-180 and that is stock 2010 sentra spec v territory. Hell you would be racing a earlier model with bolt ons and it will be sticking with you.
