What is the safest setup for boost?

I'm looking to throw a turbo kit into my car (hopefully sometime this summer) and I was wondering what the safest set up was as far as maintaining the engine's reliability? Does the amount of boost you run help as far as maintaining reliability (i.e. 5psi as opposed to something like 8psi)? Another newbie question about boost...does the psi your running have anything to do with the volume of the blowoff valve (in other words, would it sound louder if I ran 8psi instead of 5 or something like that)?

Thats all I could think of for now...any help would be great!

yea search is your friend. but think about this you can't have a fast and reliable turbo charged car without spending an assload of money. with more power, comes more responsibility. many people have and do run 8+/- psi daily. some have issues, some dont. too many factors come into play here you have to decide what you want with this setup then go from there. typically those who start off with a base kit (8psi) want more and so they increase the boost and something blows. you could build the motor to handle a strong ammount of pressure, that is costly but worth it. then once the motor is built you need to look towards getting it down to the ground. a transmission made for a 117 hp 4 cyl will be weak sauce for a turbo'd 4 cyl puttin 230+ down.

there really is no safe way.. just smarts and know how
