I want tint, but...
Well I don't like the green factory tint and wanted to get everything done black. But I want all around tint so it matches front/back. The problem is tinting front windows in Illinois is illegal...hmm but I have Nevada plates. Can I just say I didn't know? I've seen others around here with tint but a majority of cars don't have any or they just have the rear ones which is ugly imo. I wouldn't even go that dark, maybe 25% all around. What would cops do? Make me take it off?

all tint fades, just to what degree of fading is the different. I would suggest getting tint that uses metallic fibers and not the dye kind. The metallic kind, tend to fade less and wont turn purple. Most tint places warranty against peeling, bubbles, and turning purple.
One guy I knew, was driving through a state, and got pulled over for his tint. He was not a resident of the state. Cop told him that him having tinted side windows is illegal, even if you are just driving through. He had to peel it right then and there, or get a ticket. True story. I can't remember the exact state though. Him fighting the ticket would have meant to drive over 1000 miles one way to return back there. Cop was pry just having a bad day.

dude u've seen my tint that was done mid/late summer.. and it isnt fading at all yet.. Z-Tech offers a warranty.. they're on Prospect just a block or 2 from Beaumonts.. they're formally Ziebarts. mine was $150 any shade for the back 3 windows.
also.. they make u sign a disclaimer, its $20 to remove tint from the front windows if u get a ticket.. so if u want it taken off by them thats how much it is... I've seen tons of cars w/ front tint... Tristan has been pulled over plenty and he has "stock" tint that doesnt look stock to me cause its not perfect. neway.. they've never mentioned it to him... if I was you i'd just do the back 3, BTW mine is the darkest shade... not sure wut % tho. darkest that z-tech offers that is.. i'd go 1 or 2 shades lighter if u wanted to tint all 4 windows... go the shade mine is or 1 lighter if ur doin just the back 3. just my 2 cents. i'd do it dude.. I love how the tint looks, it's harder to see backing up, just be careful and its fine, I can still see at night, prolly about 70% as well as without.. so it does have an affect..

Cool I'm only doing 25% so it won't be too dark. I think you can still see in the car with that level. Man that sucks about the front windows. What about the windshield? They do that too? I don't wanna get a ticket tho and have it taken off cause it'll look terrible only on the back ones.

If a cop really wants to give you a ticket for tint i don't think it will matter what shade you have. Its illegal to have front window tint regardless. If you can get a ticket either way, might as well go all the way.
I have limo tint all around and it looks sweet. I love having the front tint especially during really hot and sunny days. My arm doesn't burn anymore from the sun. Looks really nice at night. I think the only bad part of having dark tint is when your going in reverse to back out. It takes awhile to get use to it.
I drove past whole bunch of sheriff and city police and they didn't car. The only cops that really seem to care about front tint are the ones from those hick cities or really small cities where probably most of there city income comes from tickets rather then taxes. I got a ticket for my front windows and it hurt, cost my $120 because i didn't want to take off the tint. THen again that same city in which i got my ticket is the same city that has 10 highway patrol men guard a 20mile stretch of highway to give out speeding tickets.

Wow that looks great. Exactly what I'm wanting, but I'll prolly go lighter so it doesn't stand out to cops. I'm in a small town here and got pulled the first night for neons. So if you pay the fine...then that's it? You can just keep the tint on?

yeah you can either take off the tint and pay a $20 court process fee once you have a cop sign off that the tint is gone or just pay the full fee.
I know i did 35 all around the first time and it barely looked like i had tint. It just looked like my windows were really dirty lol. Especially the metallic tint, tends to be a little lighter then the dyed kind when you compare the same percentages. I went 15 all around and i'm way more happy about it.

That's not a biggie I'll just tell em I'm getting a spoiler later so they tint over the other light. So you only have to pay the fee once, and they can't give you tickets anymore?

whoa that sucks cause just driving around today I saw tons of cars with front tint even windshield too. I really wanted to match the moonroof tint, but that's prolly gonna be too dark. Anyone know what it is maybe 20%? But I think that might be too much for the windshield at night. I still wanna be able to see outside. So I think I'm pretty set on 25% all around and see what happens. I guess I could always roll the front window down cause that's all they care about is being able to see your face right??

i have 5% all around except none on the front... I would venture to say that you would still get a citation for tint even though you have out of state tags. Basically its the officers descresion on whether or not he/she issues you a ticket.

^^^^^^^
I completely agree. it becomes too much of a hazard to get the front tinted. Even at 45% your going to have difficulty seeing people on the road at night. I would say try driving around with sunglasses on at night and see how well you can see. I know it sounds silly, but thats pretty much how its going to be if you get your front tinted.

Saying visibility, I think it makes more visual with darker tints on IMO
I have 10% all around except front
You don really need a sun visor or anything for the hard setting sunlight
and in the night, you know how disturbing the headlights from car behind you, or
lights reflecting from your side mirrors. with tint, no more of that sht
as long as you dont tint the front, it should be same or even better with tints
I got pulled over by cops 2 times now for no reason but to check what's illegal in my car, never mentioned about tints.
also, if you have somekind of interior lights that helps them see you inside too if you know what I mean

You'll be fine with 25%. On the eyebrow you can get as dark as you want. My brother lives in Chicago and he has 25% all around on his RSX and 5% on the eyebrow and it is just fine. Also, if fading is a concern, the only thing you should use to clean your windows is water. NOTHING else. Not even those "tint cleaners". All of those cleaning products have chemicals in them which will discolor your tint. You don't have to worry about streaks or anything either, water just wipes right off and does a great job.
Also, I just saw the post advising against tinting your whole windshield and I must agree. It will cut your visibility significantly even with the lightest of tint, and you don't want to deal with that. Just get the eyebrow.
One more thing, if you have a Nevada license plate, you should be fine. They can't issue you a ticket if your car is registered in Nevada for a violation of an Illinois automobile law.

Thanks actually I've decided not to tint the front windshield at all and get 35% all around. I saw it on a silver car they just finished and it was really nice. 20 just seemed way too dark, which was their next darkest.
About the law, yes they can. I had underglow neons at one time, and they pulled me over saying neons are illegal in Illinois. But maybe that's different.

Thats weird. But let me ask, did they actually give you a citation for the neons? I ask because they might have just wanted to pull you over for the sake of being nosey and check out whats going on in the car. One thing too is that they know you can at least turn the neons on and off, and sometimes states outlaw certain colors because they can resemble emergency vehicle lights (like in Kansas red neons are illegal). Either way, with 35%, you should be ok. Good luck and I hope it turns out great! Post pics when you get a chance.

cool thanks again. I'm going in Thursday. It's gonna be a little over $200, but it has lifetime warranty and I think they use lumar tints. Oh the neons...they gave me a warning but said next time I'll have to pay.

Well yea, some places didn't have an experienced tinter, or they didn't have lifetime warranty. I don't know why it's so expensive around here. At least the guy doing mine has 18+ years of experience.

yeah i guess it depends on where you live. I know in southern california, there a billion tint places you can go to so i guess competition keep prices down. If you want quality tint you going to at least pay $160+. I paid $160 for my 2dr, that with johnson tint with lifetime warranty. Its a little better quality then lumar, but i heard 3M is the best. BUt i agree $200 is a little bit much, especially since 4dr's are easier to tint then 2dr's.

so it looks funny especially in bad weather like when it's raining
