Newbie ? How do you measure how low the car is dropped?

Newbie ? How do you measure how low the car is dropped?
When people say a 1.75' or 2.00' drop...what exactly are those measurements? Does it measure the distance between the lowest part of your car and the ground? Or does it actually measure the amount of displacemnt the frame has lowered? I think it's the 2nd one, but my friend told me it's the first one...who's right?

Rep Power: 0 the second one.....measure stock height from the ground to the edge of wheel well, write it down,,,,,,then after u drop it measure again from the ground to the edge of the wheel well, write it dwon and subtract it from the stock height,,,,the answer will be the amount of your drop....
