Question advantage of a y8 manifold?

I see some people have changed to a y8 intake manifold. What's the benefit of this? Also, would this step be a good move if I'm planning to turbo for about 180 -200 whp? DIY? any info helpful, thanks.

The benefeit of it is that nobody has really designed a half decent manifold for the D17 yet, barring the POS HKS one that was made in a limited run a while back so by modifying a Y8 manifold you can get a decent manifold that actually has some design research behind it instead of what amounts to more or less a custom made, metal box from HKS.

( I think HKS made them, if anyone knows different, correct me )

Edit: Yes, it was HKS, heres a pic: http://www.honda-performance.com/ima...20Manifold.jpg

it was kms hehe HKS makes really good stuff. KMS stuff isnt bad either but that manifold is useless for most of the people in here.

I think we are all on the same page when it came to that KMS intake manifold. As allmotor said, turbo...... besides, i'm sure some of you actually took a look back there and werent too happy to see that black plastic thing.

Very much no. It took a lot for me make it work on my car, i.e. everything concerning the fuel is changed. Also you have to make a remote idle air control valve, change the MAP, run a return fuel line, and a few smaller things. If anyone is interested the shop that helped me make my custom parts is starting to make a kit for it. They’re planning to make a N/A and a Turbo kit.
