http://www.dfwmiata.com/index.php?op...d=95&Itemid=40

So... What can you do with a $700 Miata, a $300 eBay motor and the super-charger from a Toyota Previa mini-van? How about auction off over $3,000 worth of excess Miata parts and build a screaming 200 rwhp 1800 pound handful of a cone-eating beast!

Edit: so...if im reading this right, this guy came out 2 grand on top after building this beast...DAMN!!!

yeah that car looks to almost roast anything in the auto-x stuff... with the longer gears he's shooting for, he'll be doing over 70 in second... that would be a hard car to beat

Sadly, I've decided my "beater" will not be a miata...

I agree. The car may be nice and run great in autocross, but after seeing a smashed Miata today on the freeway from the rain, no thanks.

^True to an extent...

Miatas without a roll bar are pretty bad, the windshield is pretty much usless in keeping your head safe, but with a 'good' sturdy roll bar theyre not bad at all. Main problem is big *** SUVs cant see you because the car is so low, & the really big ones would probably drive right over you.

Edit: but the one in this post wont see anything other than a track, & is as safe as any other track car.
