me vs grand prix
On my way to work this morning, and the car is still a bit cold. (only 2 temp bars.... 3 being normal operating temp) For those who don't know, there is a premature fuel cutoff when the S2k isn't at temp that comes in at 6000rpm. (pre-hi cam profile vtec)
I am just about stopped at a light where a grand prix is already waiting when the light turns green. I start to accelerate and the grand prix mashes the gas. I floor it, shifting all the while at 6000rpm. (this puts me into 4th gear by 60mph) What's really sad is that at about 50mph the grand prix only has about a car length on me. He shuts down at that point and rolls down his window. (it's like 20 degrees outside)
I put my passenger window down a bit, and as we are coming up to the next red light he goes "haha, slow *** honda. S2000's are such sh*t. you got whupped by a grand prix."
he's kinda hootin and hollering and hanging out his window like an ugly monkey. half laughing, I reply "oh, you mean you were racing?". he's like "haha dont even try to play that, i heard your engine". My reply to this is "well let me show you what my engine actually sounds like when i race".
at this point, my engine is at temp, and the guy is still half hanging out his window like a monkey. i'm wondering what this dude is on. lol.
he finally sits back down, leaves his window down and gets ready to go. light turns, i walk him like hitler walking a french dog, and put a good few buslengths on him by 60. he won't pass me so i finally slow down a lot til he has no choice but to catch up. i look over, and the dude is completely still and silent. lol. i downshift, move in front of him and onto the freeway on my way to work.

3.8L 200 hp V6 - GT
3.8L 240 hp V6 - GTP
S2000 - 2.0L 240 hp I4

We put the GTP 3.8L SC engine in my friends 92' Chevy Lumina Z34 with a 15lb pulley and it ran 12.8 at 111mph.
But a regular gtp a S2K can **** on it all day

yeah, a gtp can be upgraded with higher boost using a different pulley.
i did race one with just a pulley upgrade (dont know what lbs), but i walked him pretty hard too. got a video of it.

uh.... wow. i hate when people make that comment. it's the most uneducated load of crap you could possibly say.
first off, i shifted at 6000rpm and this grand prix still BARELY EDGED ME OUT to 50mph.
SECONDLY, and this is most important. take ANY FRIGGIN CAR YOU WANT, and impede it by cutting your redline by 1/3. now see how fast that car is.
take your civic for example. shift at like 4500rpm every gear and see how 'fast' your car is. you'll be in 4th by the time you get to 60, and i gaurantee it takes you probably 12+ seconds.
so to say an S2000 has no power pre-6000rpm is just plain ignorance. any car has far less power when you cut it's redline by 1/3.
we even tried this experiment with a mustang GT. it took it 10 seconds to get to 60.
