Best coilovers for the money?

Okay. I'm kinda stuck, even after reading all the different reviews of all the different sets of coilovers out there for our car. So, please give me an idea of what the best is to go with for the money. These are going on a daily driver that sometimes sees quite a bit of highway miles, so please keep that in mind. I'm thinking of going with either the Omni Powers or the Tein Basics. Maybe the B+G S3s.

Or, would I be better off just keeping my Goldlines and getting a set of Konis or KYB AGXs? Having something with adjustable dampening would be nice, but probably not too necessary.

Omni Power Full Coilovers : ~$749

Tein Basics : ~$865

Tein SS : ~$1075

Progress Coilovers : ~$1100

B+G S3s : ~$1000

H&R Coilovers : ~$1200

KW v2s : ~$1300

Yeah, same here. I've also heard some pretty good things about the B+G S3s too, but I can't remember if they're adjustable dampners or not.

Oooo. Even better price on the Progress setup. I was just using that as a reference link.

I've heard good things about the KWs, mainly from you actually. I'm kinda trying to do this on a budget too. I got into an accident about a month and a half ago and need to get that fixed first. Luckily I got a loan, so I'm gonna hafta see how much is left over from that. So, that's gonna depend on what setup I go with. I'm just looking for ideas on what's gonna be the best setup for a daily driver, for cheap.

Ouch.........That did not look fun. I drive the KW V2 daily and depending upon your road conditions, I'd say yes....If your roads suck like ours here in Buffalo, I'd say no to this suspension. If your roads are smooth....Definite YES to this suspension. I heard the Progress is a little on the stiff side, but not as bad as KW or some other brands like JIC....

Looks aren't everything.

The roads here in Virginia aren't *too* bad. But, I do travel to Maryland quite a bit and their roads suck. I'm thinking maybe the Tein Basics or SS. I've heard nothing but good things about those for rougher roads. I'll wait and see what other have to say. Are the KWs dampening adjustable?

Dude, I'm basically tucking my 17s on Goldlines with blown shocks. I could care less about tucking. I want a smooth ride.

If you want to go cheap and have a nice ride just put the good ol stock suspension back on. Otherwise, I'd look around for a used set of Teins or B&Gs...

Seriously, and I don't want to be mean, but if you don't know what you are talking about then please do not say anything. There is no HA for our cars. In fact, they don't make them for any honda/acura anymore. They were deemed to rough for the roads. So no, the HA is NOT like the SS but with EDFC. EDFC you always have to buy seperate.

Has anyone had the chance to test out both B&G and Tein Basics or SS? Just wondering. I have B&Gs right now.

I think I'm just going to spring for the Tien SS after awhile. Seem to be the best ride for the money from everything I've been reading and people I talked to.

Yeah, I think that would fit you too. Seems like you are more concerned with ride comfort, which I am too. I'm just wondering if anyone has actually had personal experience of riding in a 01+ civic with B+G and Teins. I think the B+Gs are great so far, but just wondering if the Teins are softer. My car isn't tucked, and I don't think I ever will tuck it because to me, it's so unreasonable on the streets. I would probably spring for the Basics if I had to buy a set now. Or buy the set in the for sale section for the Tein SS.

Yeah. I think the Tein SS is a good setup too. I want comfort, but to be able to push the car a bit at the same time. I don't care about tucking. I just want something that doesn't bounce and thunk when I go over a bump. I'm definately going to buy new, espically something like this. I have no clue how hard a used set may have been pushed on. Plus the fact that most companies don't honor second-owner warranties.

Ever think about H&R Springs? They're pretty good springs for the money too.

Forgot to mention, they go pretty good with the AGX's. I had that setup on my old Accord and I loved it. The ride was nice. Not too harsh at all and when I wanted to push it around the corners, they stuck to the road pretty damn good. I have a pic in my ride section. I had H&R on my car but swapped them out for the B+G S3's a couple of weeks before the AGX's came out. If I knew that at the time, I would've waited to get the AGX's.

you are correct on the HA's. to get these, you have to special order them from Tein Japan. Only two people I know have them. Both of them race H1 in Honda Challenge

HA and SS is way different. The int. and the springs are not even close to beening close between HA and SS.

For track use in US, Tein Flex would be better than HA. The tracks are too rough and crappy in the US compared to Japan. My source, a Tein engineer that I might at a race track.

for your application, anyone that gives you the right drop should be fine.

but i recomment the Tein SS. You don't need anything better for daily drive car that doesn't see any track time. but you can still track with the SS, i did with stock suspension

I've currently got Goldlines on my ride. I would just end up keeping those and going with some new struts if I go that route. I've been very happy with them. I'd probably go with the KYB AGXs if I stay this way.

I'm not real sure what I want to do yet. If I do decide to go with full coilovers, it'll probably end up being the Tein SS.

unless you want to drop slam the car to the ground 3.5 inches then get BGs.....

other then that get TeinSS...... they ride awesome, perfect for daily driving and they go low..... who ever says they dont go low enough is on crack cuz i'm tucking my rear about and inch and a half and have half a finger gap in the front on the lowest setting almost. i only recommend TeinSS haha check out my member rides to see how low they go.....

I have tein SS and they are smooth........the ride is so nice and handling is awesome.

HustlelikeM0FO has tein ss and is tuckin 19's.
So what are the exact reasons he is regretting the switch? Was it because B+Gs aren't as smooth? I think the B+Gs are nice, but I do wish it could be more smooth. Wish I can find a setup that would ride like a 350Z. I just want the drop, and for it to ride soft. No racing for me.

I'm thinking of going with either the Omni Powers or the Tein Basics. Maybe the B+G S3s.

Or, would I be better off just keeping my Goldlines and getting a set of Konis or KYB AGXs? Having something with adjustable dampening would be nice, but probably not too necessary.

Omni Power Full Coilovers : ~$749

Tein Basics : ~$865

Tein SS : ~$1075

Progress Coilovers : ~$1100

B+G S3s : ~$1000

H&R Coilovers : ~$1200

KW v2s : ~$1300
From your choices, go for the Tein Basics. Tein makes excellent quality suspension products. Another one that I like is the Koni/Ground Control set up.
