what do you guys think of this turbo?? i would be mounting it on the hks mani and running a dsm smic, jc whitney piping, and a greddy e-manage.... does anyone know what kinda little fittings and adaptors i would need to buy to accomodate this turbo? i have installed a kit on my friend's car but never pieced together a kit from scratch... is the dsm intercooler ok? what do you guys think??

Should be a very good turbo. Quick spool, linear boost characteristics, a very good street turbo, the only real weakness to a hybrid turbo would be power on the highway. A T3/T4 will flow better up top, but being a T3 footprint is not compatible with the HKS mani. So that leaves me with saying that for the price it is a fantastic turbo for your application.

A DSM sidemount would work for low boost and keep intercooler piping to a minimum, and an especially good deal for around $35 on www.dsmtrader.com or www.ebay.com . Another more expensive option, but able to support a lot more power would be a MKIV Supra sidemount. They usually sell used for around $100-$150.

what would be the best way to mount a sidemount? and do you think it could handle ~8 PSI?

the DSM side mount doesn't start leaking until around 22# or so, since it is such as responsive turbo I would try to maintain that quick boost response by finding a way to mount it for good airflow but with as little piping and as few bends as possible. If you are running an aftermerket front bumper you may have enough airflow through the front to mount a DSM sidemount in the passenger side front fernderwell and cut some slits through the plastic fender lining so air will flow through the intercooler and out the wheel well.

That turbo is a Garrett T25 flange. It should bolt up to the HKS manifold. I would recommend this turbo over any T3/T4 for a daily driven car.

yeah it looks like a pretty sweet turbo and a $775 i think its a great deal... as for the dsm intercooler i dont have an aftermarket bumper, i have an 04 civic. does anyone know of a good spot to mount it where it will still get good airflow? the other thing i was thinking is that possibly running no ic with this intercooler might be feasible if i kept it around 6-7 psi... what do you guys think of that? on the same hand tho at 30-40 bucks the dsm int is cheap insurance so idk what do you guys think? also with the greddy e-manage would i necessarily need larger/extra injectors to keep up with the turbo if i was running ~7 psi? if not this could turn out to be a relatively inexpensive setup... all opinions welcome!

You can run without an intercooler if you run 6psi. I would highly recommend one if you decide to run more than that.

Larger injectors are better because you wont run lean at full boost. If your only running 6-7 shouldn't be problem. But there are no absolutes. If you run all day and its hot your car will knock. If your just gonna run 6-7psi why buy/build a kit. You wont see huge gains. If your gonna boost shot for 10psi at least or the ability to turn it up. If you boost with 6 and want to race with 8,9,even 10 you will blow your motor sooner or later. All this stuff Alch, intercooler, plugs, are insurance to keep the car from blowing. You just have to learn what you need for your car. If you do just want the 6-7 daily boost then you'll be fine without an intercooler, but you'll have to watch the EGT like a hawk and take it easy on your car. Not really fun when you just got a turbo!
