Hate HOODPINS?? Look in here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have created a solution in my head that could possibly eliminate hood pins all together and also serve as an anti-theft deterant. If you would be interested in something like this, let me know. I'm trying to gauge interest to see if this is worth my time. Respond ASAP

Are you talking about the " Rons Theory of Magnetivity "

What you do is, you weld hooks to the supporting metal under your hood. Then you run chain from those hooks, through your engine bay, and out to a spoke of your rims. That way, when you drive forward, the wheel will pull the hooks tighter and tighter so that no one can open your hood.

Guys.. materials would be super expensive.... i was gonna remove the rubber levelers and place electromagnet and run it to the altenator. When car runs, magent holds it down, when off , you can open hood. Magents are like 50 a piece
. So this wont happen.... just a random idea that came into my head

Anti-theft would have been optional... either also run it to ur car battery or a spare battery with an on/off relay inside the car. That would have been an option.

yeah and what if your magnets failed and your hood flew open on the highway, while you drive blindly to your death?
just outta curiosity I know I might sound like an idiot what are hood pins really for? The only reasons I could think of were to open a hot hood? I pop the hood pull the lever and just lift with my fingers, dont see whats wrong with that, hood pins look ugly imo.

extra protection to hold your cf hood down. since it's lighter than oem when you drive at the higher speeds some people have said they can see it rattle up and down. you don't want the hood catching wind and flying up in your face because the latch fails on you ykno?
hood pins are like a safety net for when the latch fails, breaks, etc.

The magnets are only beneficial when traveling at high speeds exactly like hood pins are for. Hood pins do nothing for security.
i have made a prototype of the same thing/idea which runs of the alteranator/battery but think me and my friends have come up with a solution....
we have bought high powered rally strong magnet strips from a local shop.. these magnets are strong... you stick it to a fridge and its hard to pull off... so we bought a very good lenght of this strip and drilled holes to the underside of the hood and attached it... when hood closes it latches to the frame of the car... now i think we overdone it cause it took three of us to open the hood...one thing good about this is your hood is secure locked down 24/7 unless you got 3 guys to open the thing... actually it took 3 of us plus my little sister to pull the hood latch at the same time... now the solution to all this is that underneath the frame right under the magnets will be an electronic version of a magnet which has a reverse polarity of the magnets under the hood... when you hit the switch it pushes the magnets up.. so basically hit the button and then pull the latch...seems simple but we are still designing the electronics.... basically better than the original idea that you guys are talking about
