Turbo intercooler mounting?

How would hoodscoop intercooler work on our cars if you know what i mean. Something like WRX. The piping would be alot shorter and air would flow faster from turbo.

thought about this heaps, would make the piping easier

straight up from the turbo and across to the cooler then from the cooler across to the tb
there is room there when you take out the stk intake

dont know how to post pics
http://www.7thgencivic.com/memberrid...cat/all/page/1

but look at the size of that, surely a top mount could work

no point to put the intercooler on the hood, wrx tuners remount it to the front to get better cooling.

thats when theyre running 300 or so whp, but we are talking a lil over 200 here, it would work with the proper hood.

Signal Auto is the only ones I've ever seen do the V mount, and thats only possible when you have a lot of room in front of the engine, like a Silvia or RX7. Thats not too possible with about 9" between the radiator support and the engine. They do that as to not sacrifice the radiator's cooling for the intercooler's sake, but I think the hope is to still feed the IC through the lower mouth in the bumper. Its a lot of custom work to make it happen.
Honestly if you were gonna top mount one, I'm not sure where you'd put it. Only place I can think of is where the battery is if you moved it, or you can maybe squeeze a small one in where the resonator sits, but its pretty tight under there.
If you're looking for sneaky install, what about a side mount? Or anodizing the Intercooler black?

TMIC is ok if you have the room, but cooling capability is always going to be greater with a FMIC

Has anyone tried a side mount that you know of?

yeah, you would end up doing alot more work to the car than you'd want to. front mount is more than likely the best way to go...plus trust me when i tell you that the distance from the intercooler to the actual block really won't make the difference you think it will.

It's a total waste of time. If you want it to be less noticeable, just paint the FMIC black. I've seen it before and it's difficult to tell that there is one there. Don't give up easy HP for that setup.
