Pheonix Gold Cyclone
Pheonix Gold Cyclone
Anyone ever hear one in person? How did you like it?
It got me wondering since i work at Whirlpool making washing machines all night. Pheonix Gold Cyclone = 12" washing machine looking thing. So what if i take an actual 27" wasing machine and a few modifications later. I'd have the baddest @ss sub ever lol

I've heard one... it's okay I guess but I wasn't like WOW or nothing...
From what I hear they can go really really low, and don't play very high.
I think they need a lot of power as well but I'm not sure.

yea they're frequency response goes down to 10hz
but they dont need much power. Only like 150 watts for full excursion(from PG site). I've seen alot of stats about them just never heard one so i was wondering if anyone else has.
Here's the info

yea its a sub that spins instead of moves back and forth. It's quite old now but i've never heard one yet. It moves just like a washing machine but the veins go all the way to the wall and they kinda act like a fan. Pretty sweet idea.
If i remember correctly they originaly developed it as an elephant call (seriously) for some animal conservation group. They needed something that could play very low frequencies like that of which elephants make. It's lower than the human range of hearing. So techincally if you got a bass CD that played like 12hz cycles, all your **** would be shakin but nobody would hear the sound of the sub. You could really freak someone out if you played it and was like "OH ****!!! WHATS WRONG WITH MY CAR!!!" lol

below 20hz is cool but any good system should be able to play it. I've played my petty little 10's down that low before with no problem

agreed. technically your 6.5s can play down that low. It's just at such a low volume. I believe frequency response is just measured from the speakers highest output point to a point above and below that when it reaches 3db lower. So just because a speakers frequency response doesnt show 10hz doesnt mean it doesnt play that low. It just plays that particular frequency less than half (-3db) as loud as its highest point. Something like that.
