amp help

well i get into my car today, turn it on and the subwoofers just start goin off!!! i mean just start humming incredible bass. the radio was not even on! as soon as i turned it on, the humming stopped. if i turned it off again, it would start again. i turned up the amp setting just a bit yesterday and im guessing that was it because i turned it down again and it stopped. can anyone tell me what the reason might be? pics of my setup are in my gallery.

Its called factory radio.

In an aftermarket system a HU will have a remote wire. This turns on the amp. Whenever the HU is on, it turns the amp on. Pretty simple.

With a factory HU you don't have this wire. The way around this is to hook up the amp to the ignition. That way if the car is on the amp is on.

Where this is a problem is when the car is on, so the amp is on, but the factory radio is off. In this scenario the amp is left on, but isn't being fed a signal since the radio is off. It doesn't know what to do and goes crazy.

As long as you never have the radio off while the car is on your just fine. .....

catalin is an unknown quantity at this point
Exactly what Joe said. If this system is installed in a 7th gen Civic and connected to a factory head unit, you in fact do have a remote wire that can be used. The newer Civics and Accords... actually I think all new Hondas have an amplified antenna in the rear pillar that turns on when the stereo is turned on. This lead can be used to also turn on your amplifier and in turn eliminating the humming.

Give it a go, I believe it's a yellow/green wire on the rear of the deck.
