But i dont think oil will last 100,000mi. The actual chemical composition of oil changes as it ages and heats

Screw them! I suggest that all oil/gas companies should merge into one BIG OIL/GAS COMPANY! Then everythin will be much cheaper...don't ya think? Yeah...it our dreams that would happen...the reason y gas prices are high is because our oil refineries or extractors were damaged from Hurricane Ivan.

One company eh? That means they can charge $100 per quart and we would still buy them because we have no choice and we have to change our oil.

same thing with roads.

They came up with a new way to pave, in which chopped up tires is thrown in with blacktop. It is called "super pave" and is suppose to last over 20 yrs. But they won't use it, but construction companies will have no business.

i read up a decent amount on synthetic and some of the bigger names (mobil-1) claim it can go for 100,000 unchanged because it doesn't break down like normal oil, or atleast as nearly as fast. of course i doubt there are any test. i wouldn't mind not having to worry about oil. i wonder how long until hydrogen makes it out there....

i'm wasn't telling you to put mobil1 in your engine and run it for 100k. it was more of a statement about the actual composition of synthetic oil in general. by in general i mean that, without arguing any of this, synthetic's molecular structure kills mineral oil, and it could survive 100k miles in an engine if debris were not aloud in, but because of filtering technology that impossible. or. close enough. i was also using 100k pretty loosely to get the point across.

if you left m1 0w-20 in your engine for 100k without any makeup oil, or even with makeup oil it'd shear down a hell of a lot, and itd be even more watery than it always is. m1 is pretty stable, but not that stable.
