It appears my car is poo poo!

Many people have reviewed my picture gallery and said my car is poo poo. So because i dont have a $800 catback from Tanabe or a $250 Aem intake my car is poo poo? I bet my intake makes the same power gain from a retail cai. And my removed muffler, it pretty quiet actually, no super loud 100db sonic booms through residential areas. why because there is still a resonator intalled. true there is the chance of getting my underbody dirty. and the heat from the exhaust has melted a plastic clip under the suspension. what makes me mad is not that people think my car is poo poo, but because its not an aem cai, or a apexi n1 exhaust it's ghetto rigged or gonna make my car explode. i guess just pissed off, i appreicate all my fellow 7thgener's for defending my car in a thread a few days ago!! -- Jeremy

My take on things is that its your car. You pay the bills on it so you do with it what you want. In the end it doesnt matter what a bunch of internet SNs say. All that matters is that your happy with YOUR ride. I'm not saying i would have chosen the same route as you but at least your doing something that makes YOU happy not someone else. Mad props for the ***** it took to cut your OEM hood.

Come one dude, its not the fact that you don't have a AEM or Injen intake. Its the fact that you went to Home depot and put a gutter extension on your car. Ever heard of turbulence? I doubt its very smooth in your intake. You really think your gutter extension flows as well as an AEM or Injen? Do you think you 5 minutes of looking at the extension is the same as hundreds of hours of research and development?. The fact that you would do that to a car is just unbelievable.

Then theres the exhaust. It doesn't matter that you don't have a Greddy or Tanbe exhaust. Its the fact that you simply took off the muffler to make more noise. You know how much power you gain? Hrmmmm? exactly 0 hp.

Some that cares about performance will get a performance exhaust to go faster
Your typical ricer will weld on a universial muffler from pep boys to make more noise.
You on the other hand, simply removed your muffler to make more noise.

And the hood scoops, what the hell is with the hood scoops.

We were not making fun of you for modding your car. But see people on a car forum usually have a certain love for cars. But from looking at your car one would assume you hate it.

wow, your exactly wrong, adding my intake draws colder air in, thats it, true it does create turblent flow, but whats the most restrictive part of the intake? the throttle body or the intake runners, or the cylinder head ports? well, even if my flow is more turbelent, its colder, and doesnt turbelent flow cause better mixing of fuel and air? not saying that im gaining mad horse power from my intake, but its better than stock, and my muffer has a 2 1/4" inlet and a 1 1/2" outlet, so it flows more (in theory). and the vents allow for heat to escape the engine compartment (my temp gauge is 2 marks below normal operating temp). and that last statement 'one would assume i hate my it" thats wrong too, cause if i hated it i would leave it stock and trade it in.

mad props to shady **** what anyone thinks about your car good or bad. if you got pride in the fact that you did the work yourself or that you had the ***** to improvise then go on doing with what you think is best for yourself and that honda. just cause your car dont shine dont mean it aint a honda

My question is this...

WHO THE HELL PAID $800 FOR THEIR TANABE EXHAUST AND $250 FOR AN INTAKE?

LOL- maybe if you get the Titanium catback with the v2 intake? I paid $550 for the my Tanabe SRM and $95 for my AEM SRI. LOL

look for starters our car has nothing to do with any of you guys. If you don't like it don't look at it, its as simple as that! you don't have to make your smart *** comments about it you can save them for someone else who gives a ****, because we don't. we did not sign onto this website to be judged about our car nor did we sign on here to be discriminated about the work done to it. we don't need your permission or consent on the things that has been done to our car. so the way i see it is shut the **** up and go on with your life unless you don't have a ****ing life. there is alot of people that like our car and of course you *******s who don't. my husband has spent many of hours doing the things he has done to the car. so keep your mouths shut and into your own ****ing business. how is the intake not ghetto? its made from a part that is no where near close to what it should be, plus how is it even connected? isnt it the same as having nothing there? besides the fact that it looks really out of place, you can get cheap no name intakes from ebay .. do you actually think you gain from that? Im not trying to insult you or anything it's just something i'd never do, if I ever did get an intake i'd get a cheap SRI off ebay.. I wouldnt spend $250 either..

fyi.. my first mod to my exhaust was only a muffler, I just took the muffler into the shop and had em put it on.. it was all stock piping to the muffler, just for a little sound ran me about $100 total.. sounded decent too, but then I upgraded to a catback, mainly for more sound. so not everything has to cost $800. Tsudo catbacks are under $250 on ebay I think.. (not too sure tho)

EDIT: Im only talking about the intake, I have no problem with your hood, and although I think you should just have a aftermarket muffler put on if you want a little sound, im not h8in on that either..

Sorry but your wrong

Bigger does not equal better.

In an intake like yours the turbulant air will be close to the outer area of the piping. Now if your pipe diameter was smaller the air velocity would be higher allowing air to sort of zip past the turbulant air and be muchly unaffected. However since you used an extremely large diameter piping you greatly reduced the air velocity inside the piping. Since the air is moving much much slower the turbulant air has time to affect it making the air inside the entire pipe turbulant.

Your turbulant air means better air furl mixture is alos void. Because the air is more than likely too turbulant causing at air/fuel mixture to be unevenly dispersed inside the cylinder. Honda did a good job of controlling airflow to allow the air/fuel mixture to spread evenly throughtout the cylinder, this is also why all intakes are smooth. Disrupting the airflow will cause uneven and uncomplete disappation of the air/fuel mixture.

So no its not better than stock. Actually the stock intake takes hours upon hours of research and development to out do.

The stock exhaust is restrictive in all aspects taking off a single piece wil not solve your problem. The rest of your exhaust is still restrictive. Either remove the whole thing (cat-back) or don't even bother.

Your hood scoops? no one can argue that colder is better so congrats in making .000000000000001 hp


So lets recap

Your Intake = Loosing power
Your Exhaust = Same power as stock
Your Hood = An small, probably unmeasurable amount of power

i thought an idiot i kno in school was stupid enough already... home depot barbecue grille on the front... alont with shiet loads of LEDs with exposing wires everywhere...

and guess what, thats a champagne colored 94 Camry....

Gutter extension piece for an intake, you are da man.... don't come crying some day if your enging bay heats up and ur intake melts....nor wonder u need the hood 'HOLE'...

i call it a hole coz i don't see a scoop..and generally hood scoop is for turbo charged cars with top mount intercooler

i found ur intake very creative, u shoulda kept ur stock one on though, it would've been "healthier" for the engine.

as for the exhaust..

and the hood "hole"..

My tastes are completely different than yours obviously, so I won't comment on the hood and intake. The exhaust thing though... just put your rear section back on. All you did was lose low end response by unbolting the thing. Not to mention the issues you're already experiencing with heat. If you must do it that way, just get a muffler shop to bend a pipe for you and use it as a tailpipe.

And don't tell me that removing the muffler took your husband many hours to do. It takes five minutes.

hey shady88 i feel u man i have done some experiments with my car and ive come to some conlusions
1:in our cars it doesnt matter which type of intake we put in because the intake manifold is so restricted that from a v2 to a ebay intake there is almost no diference maybe 1-2hp which you dont really feel on a plain stock engine... if u are managing to get cold air into the engine probably you are getting the same hp as someone with and AEM sri or even cold air... how are you doing for the IAT sensor? what brand is ur filter??? because from what ive learned the thing that makes the most diference in intakes is wether is a CAI or SRI and what kid of filter it has less restrictive the better.

as far as the exhaust i took mine off to paint it and for like two days i was just like you have it, it really sounds awesome not too loud and really deep! i do believe that you gain some low end but im not sure about in the high rpms so my only advice for the exhaust is probably go to a cheap muffler shop and get a tip and just a straight trough pipe like they do on camaros and american cars i that thing is no more than 40 dollars to get it done it will really sound nice i believe.

the hood... man is not bad but do you get water inside the engine when it rains?
thats the only downside of it that i see and that the engine compartment is gonna get more dirt but if you clean the engine everyweek like i do then there is no problem... yeah probably you can get more hot air out of the engine compartment... i think that's a good accomplisment just again be careful of the water coming inside from the rain

i like ur car because being different is what makes ur car being unique plus i like the creativity and i know u had to put some thinking and skills into doing the intake and the hood. at least ur not like all of us that go by what everybody says is the best and buy stuff just beacuse is certain brand. if you think about it there is no way that a company can make the BEST intake for certain car when they make intakes for thousands of cars EX: the AEM short ram..they just wanna sell stuff. it only takes 3 seconds in a computer to design a tube, is not that complicated. i use solid works 2000 i can design you an intake for any car. so is not like engineers are killing their braincells designing the intakes for cars.. so who knows that probably his intake really giver great hp gains?? i had an injen SRI for like a week and then i got an ebay on i really didnt feel any diference at all. only a dyno can tell. just because is not a brand name doesnt mean is good. they are all made the same way.. dont believe the bullshit they say on their websites.. they are just triyng to selll their products thats all

sry this came out so long but i really felt like saying it lol i apreciate creativity not how much money you can put in the car.

well lets do this.. take your car to the track.. run it.. if u hit anything faster than 17.8 seconds then what you have done is not in vien.. youve succeded.. Car and Driver stated that a LX coupe 5 speed will run a 17.8 in one of thier issues. So i guess if you think its better than stock.. run it and prove others wrong i guess.. oh well good luck.

Open you eyes..

Lets start from the top.

1. Blue (non-HID) Parking bulbs.
2. Monster tach on a 17 second car.
3. Chicken wire "mesh" on a cut up hood.
4. Gutter Pipe intake, wow.
5. No muffler. Mmmm melted underbody..
6. Saggy rear springs.

How is this not ghetto or rice? Take pride in your car. So you cant afford a new CF hood at the moment, tough. Save your money and do it right. Driving around in a bucket like that just adds to the "All hondas are crappy rice rockets." stereotype. The majority of the people on this site have very clean, and very tasteful rides. And the fact of the matter is people will remember 1 shitbox honda rather then 25 good looking ones.
