"We didn't bother including any vehicles with a quarter mile time of more than 14 seconds"

^^^lol cuz they're not fast

only one honda on there... not hard to figure out which one. they list the srt4 as 215hp, i thought it was 230. did it just increase?

quarter mile times are hard to say anyways. he even says as much. and calling motor trend and all those a relieable source is pretty iffy. but still a cool find

How much power would the top 2 cars on the list need to have in order to run 10.5, cuz the Enzo has 660 and, im guessing, is lighter than the Baracuda and the Dart???

Not all of it is Horsepower, alot of it is Torque and Gearing.... as in the Enzo has taller gears so it can go 200+ mph... with the gearing the Cuda and the Dart have... they would top out some where in the low 100mphs... but they would get there really fast!

Those times are from original testing by car mags when the cars first appeared. Therefore, they are times on original factory tires. The fact that two old hemi's top the list gives you an idea why that motor design kicks butt.

BTW, don't confuse Dodge's new "Hemi's" with the original. Nothing compares to the original.

Um... Our civics have Hemis..... allways have for that matter... of course the newer ones are the more advanced pent roof design which allows for more Valves. (Un-like the standard Hemipherical Head design, wich only allows for 1 intake and 2 exaust valve....)

440 was actually faster on the streets than the hemi.

hemi implies half sphere. how does our engine with the 3 flat sides resemble a hemi? spheres arent flat anywhere.

and i dont see why everyone is all "ooo american cars on top im gay"
the only car in the top 3 made in the past 30 years is the ENZO. take into account the enzo accellerates and stops like a crotch rocket, and can turn like an indy car, and i have to say, american cars suck. so what if your craptastic camaro does 10s? i bet a 15 second turbo civic would be alot more fun to drive. heck a stock civic is more fun than a mullet car any day.

the orignal CCVC Civic had a "True" Hemi, since then, Honda as well as other MFGs have advanced past the 2 Valve Hemi design... The current Civic has a Pent roof design which is superior to a "Pure" hemi because you can fit more valves in the head... rather then just 2. (1 intake, 1 exaust)

Damler Chrysler is just riding the coat tails of the 60s and 70s to boost sales...

whats wrong with the new hemi? my dad has a new hemi ram, no its not the old hemi, but the thing pulls hard past 100mph. with the torque limiter removed from first it kicks some *** in acceleration, and beats the magnums to hell anyday.

The new hemi is a great engine... for a car. The torque peaks WAYYYY up high... exactly where I don't want it in a truck. Its nothing but a marketing gimmick.

Its better than the old 5.9L, but it sure doesn't make real world sense.

Real trucks dont have sparkplugs

Awsome f^cking car. Fred Gibb's dealership was the sole dealer that sold these amazing machines, which were only 69 of them.

A magazine called Super Stock magazine said they ran the car at 10.41 sec @128.10 mph.

And legendary racer D1ck Harrel campaigned this car during the 69 year with best of 10.05 @ 139 mph.
