I don't really like the new 5 series but the new M5 looks suprisingly good. And a V10 that revs to 8000 RPMs is awesome.

it´s supposed to have 500 horsepower, i don´t know the torque. it won´t have a straight up manual though it´s gonna have a 7 speed sequential manual instead, imo that kind of sucks, takes the skill out of driving. i read that it will be at least 80 grand. without the manual though, it loses some of its edge of the e55, the main reason the bmw´s have won all the comparisons over the benzos is the lack of the manual option in the benz. i don´t know what bmw was thinking...

I'm sorry, but you're 100% wrong! WRONG WRONG WRONG! The 7-speed sequential in that monster shifts quicker than you ever could in a manual. I believe it's something like 150 milliseconds. Secondly, the M5 hasn't been compared against anything yet, so what you said about the lack of a manual option in Benz allowing BMW to win is complete and utter BS. I'm sorry, but go learn something about these cars first before you claim to know why this or that doesn't happen. The sheer fact that you think a manual is better is because, in most cases, they have more gears, which means closer ratios, and better acceleration. Did you not read that this is a 7-speed sequential manual gearbox (SMG)? The thing shifts in 150 milliseconds, and is quicker than any other gearbox on the market right now (taken right from their Formula One know-how).
Sorry for the rant, but this just got to me.

Majarvis is right. SMG is way faster than manual. But I still don't like like the new styling. The front isn't to bad, the back is ugly.

You've obviously never driven an SMG. My M3 with SMG-II will SMOKE a regular manual M3. The SMG IS a manual transmission by the way, as there is no torque converter. And let's see, a V-8 supercharged within an inch of it's life or a naturally aspirated V-10 that produces more power....Hmm...Not to mention the fact that the previous generation M5 engine will be going into the M3. The difference between an AMG and a Motorwerks is quite noticeable. M's are truly meant to be sports cars. AMGs are just a souped version of the regular car, since there are no manual transmissions available in them (stick shift OR SMG) and only have manu-matics.

the front fascia still sucks my nuts. its better than the 7, but its still butt fugly. i hate the front lights and the redesigned kidney grill.

I personally think that BMW has lost its unique understated looks. It was more conservative, yet agressive. That was the BMW I fell in love with. Now its just, wannabe all futuristic and ****.

it may have 500 hp but its only got like 365 pounds of torque.
so no its not all that great. The old m5 had more torque I believed...

personally still think amg's are better and cheaper

I agree, but I don't think I'll ever refer to BMW as "wannabe" anything though! The slightly older BMWs were so slick and simple. no need for strange body contours and funky tail lights/head lights. The tail lights look like they came off a wrx.

I don't think BMW is capable of producing an ugly wheel design.

I was reading about it and it has different modes you can set the car in. Although it only has 350 for torque it is faster than the old M5 in its economy mode.

That's right, more than a 7-Series. The M5 is top of the line performer of BMW, and it includes every luxory detail you can find in the 7 series. The 7 series is just bigger, but the M5 is much better in everything else (engine, brakes, suspension, etc.)

No doubt is the king of sport sedans!!
