i was in the fast lane on the freeway doing about 70 mph about 5 car lengths behind a 6thgen civic. This Explorer tailgated me for a good 2 minutes, then he switched lanes and came back into my lane right in front of me. To pass one car? without going at a faster speed? I thought that was very disrespectful. So I changed lanes several times and then I ended up in front of the 6thgen back at 70 mph (refer to the drawings). Then I think the Explorer got pretty angry and then he started changing lanes like crazy, he even tried to pass in the carpool lane, with only one person in the Explorer. But no matter what he did, he was stuck behind the 6thgen . I got off the freeway before he could overtake me. There was much more space than it appears in the drawings though. Just to share this with you guys. Oh well, flame all you want.

/\/\hehe, i LOVE to do that! Especially when i'm in the left lane (2 lane highway, not on the highway, none around here) and i'm going like 70 and someone tailgates me, argh! that pisses me off, as if 70 isn't fast enough! So i usually slow down and stay right beside an old woman in the right lane that's goind like 50-55, and just cruise!!!!! I love the facial expressions from the peeps after i get tired of it and let them pass.

Umm.... you guys should learn how to drive the highways.

Right lane = cruising lane
Anything to the left should be used only for passing, then returning to the right lane again.

So don't "cruise" in any lane left of another, cause then you're just blocking people that wanna pass.

I dunno. Yes 70 is fast, but maybe he wants to go faster. And if you find yourself going the same speed as a car to your right, what's so bad about being behind them? You're not supposed to pass from the right, so don't make people do it.

Maybe it's just me... I dunno.

Well... depends. There was 3 engine options available on the explorer... the 3.0 V6 which was a dog, a 4.0 V6 which could hold its own, and the 5.0 V8 which would eat a 7thgen...

^i agree. even the dmv handbook says go along with the traffic flow but the limit law is 65mph which makes it pointless. cause everyone is hitting 70mph depending on traffic conditions.

But he indicated that there was a 6thgen in front of him and the dude with the explorer switched lanes and sandwiched himself inbetween the 6th gen and Dalaw's 7th gen.

I like the diagrams too, and everyone trying to say if the explorer had 4.0 V6, or 5.0 V8, etc I consider ownage in traffic to be who is ahead, and obviously that has nothing to do with speed, its skill of weaving and passing people :P
so my guess would be the explorer wont be owning any civics if he cant maneuver well.

situations like those are great.. haha to the tailgating b@$tard.. I usually dont tailgate people as long as their doing the speed limit i'll back off and let them be, its when a 40ish yr old mother is talking on her cell driving her suv goin 28 down a 35 1 lane each way and i cant pass her, thats when I get pissed, espcially if I flash my brights and she doest even notice a damn thing.

i hate it when those big suvs and trucks race me. one time this big *** 2500 truck lifted with huge *** tires pulls up next to me and when the light turned green he just floors it and takes off. then he gets in my lane and thinks he won a race.

Well big truck and SUV's can beat us and win a race... the only time we could take them is in turns.

our cars are slow as **** and have no torque (something SUV's and Trucks have tons of)

I bet the base model of most suvs aren't much faster, if faster than our cars at all.. are they? Friend of mine used to have a 94 Explorer, it was a V6, when I had my 3.5L Concorde and Im pretty sure I was a bit faster, and I think the civic is atleast as fast as the concorde was..
