RB25DET in 71' datsun 510?
umm yeah. im looking at buying a 510 as a project car and i was thinking of instead of swapping the ubiquitous sr20det, make it unique and get an r33 skyline gt motor (rb25det, about 275 hp,and a lot of torque stock) and 5 speed, (about the same price) but i am worrying about the fitment. I know this is really the wrong site and forum to be asking on but theres not a whole lot of info about this car, much less this swap out there. So if anyone has any idears or anything, it would be great if anyone could help me out. thanks...
oh yeah, maybe even a 300zx turbo motor>? just another thought.

i kinda like the datsun 240z better though
if you wanted to go completely baller, you could get the rb25dett 6-speed from the r34

thanks abmerop that actually did help, and cambo, ithink the 510's motor and transmission weigh about 390, so yeah, that extra 260lbs will definitely affect the handling. thanks guys.
Not much room to work with in the 510 bay. It's similarly shaped as the pickup but with strut towers taking up more space. I have seen a rotary stuffed in there before, so sweet. The 240z has the most potential though, not to mention they aren't as rare as the roadster, 510, or pickups. I get way more compliments on the stock pickup (junkyard runner) then the souped up 240z
